Wonderful contest. I had my Hexbeam broken and I had to use (with tuner, of course) on 10, 15 and 20
meters my Inverted L for 160. You know that it is not the best setup. But anyway I enjoed my time!

This is my very first contest I joined using my very first HF rig and 40m EFHW antenna in a bamboo
mast in Palawan Island, Philippines. Encountered three brownouts during the 24-hour contest. Still
managed to get some contacts, praise God. Thank you!

This was a symbolic participation, limited by the time that family and work allowed. It was also
marked by several technical difficulties: for some reason, every time I transmitted, the virtual COM
ports started “talking” to each other and I had to restart all the software. On top of that, the
VE7CC cluster once again showed instability during the contest when used together with DXLog —
maybe some configuration issue, but the truth is that it had always worked perfectly until
recently.

Despite all this, I managed to use the contest to fill a few missing bands for some DXCCs and to
contact several HQ stations that do remarkable work to be on the air for this event.

73 to all, and good contacts.

This year, I spent more time with the contest. It was fun but DX signals were weak on my horizontal

from nearby thunderstorms).

Thanks for the organisation!

Roasting in the shack with no AC — it was over 37°C here in Albi, and the propagation definitely
wasn’t on my side. Even so, every contact felt like a small celebration. New Zealand, Galápagos,

back home operating as PY3RK.

openings where few - with restricted location and only a 6BTV ground mounted - see QRZ.com for this

I had to wait until my family left for the UK until I could install the OCF dipole at the roof of my
house. It really took me some time to put it up there, but now I at least have a permanent antenna.
Had fun with my IC-7300mk2, even thoug I invested quite some time to solve a CAT-problem. The
contest was real fun, luckily my family was away and now one was disturbed by SSB or CW. The whole
contest (and my house) were powered by solar and battery. Not on purpose, just because there was
enough sun and battery to get through the night.

I am in the process of learning all new software in change from Windows to macOS and ran out of time
figuring out how to connect laptop to radio. Probably missed some manual band changes as a result.
Used 500W to temporary 10-40 EFHW @ ~9-10M high strung up on Cape Cod, MA. After many decades using
beams I am impressed by where a 20 meter piece of wire strung from a pole on the deck can be heard.
Turned on spotting to help find WRTC stations.

Had a fun time in the contest. Bands did not really want to cooperate on 10 or
80 which is unfortunate. This is one of the first DX contests where I actually
called CQ and got some responses. 58 of my calls came from calling CQ with 235
coming from S&P. I think there was only 5-10 calls that I could hear, but
they couldn't hear me.

Conditions quite poor in the first few hours, so much so that I suspected my antenna system was
lying on the ground, even having worked 9K2 S9 just hours earlier. As feared, 28 MHz saw little
activity here until late afternoon US time when South America came up as expected. There was a
murderer's row of HQ stations from Europe across the 14.250 area for 24 hours straight, quite a
testament to 20M band. Did not find the Caribbean contest stations usually found in the ARRL DX
Tests in March. With the sunspot cycle heading down this contest in mid-summer will likely become
even more of a struggle than this year, but glad to have this opportunity again.

KH6KB
Only operated about one hour near the end of the contest period. Hopefully my QSO was helpful to

conditions did not seem very good. N6KB operating as KH6KB

CHECK LOG !!

KK4R
This was an interesting contest for a few reasons. My computer
had been having a months-long disagreement with my radio gear and
software that kept me mostly off the air since April. Twice the
computer was sent back to ASUS for repairs, and they never found
a problem. This contest was part of my troubleshooting as I
slowly rebuild the system and reconnect peripherals. Right away,
it seemed like my problems might be back, because N1MM behaved
strangely. Some troubleshooting and advice from folks on the
N1MM groups.io list showed that it was my fault. I chose the
WRTC contest instead of the IARU, so the first half of the
contest was spent struggling with a disfunctional contest
profile. Once that was discovered and the log was moved to the
right contest, it was time for a friend's birthday party.
Afterward, things worked nicely, conditions were better for my
station, and I doubled my contacts before declaring a personal
victory and going to bed. During the day on Saturday, the WRTC
contestant stations seemed to be just on the edge of copy, and I
was wishing for a tribander or something with a lower angle of
radiation. Saturday night evened the odds for me, and my wires
did well for reaching many of the contestants. I had a nice run
on 40m, even though I was rusty and out of practice. It was fun
and very satisfying to be operating again, and I went to bed a
happy ham.

Had trouble with my radios so just a part-time effort
mostly to work the 50 WRTC teams. Got all 50 then got
49 on 15 CW missing only MB3B for the sweep. Excellent
quality WRTC ops. A pleasure to work them and IARU was fun
as usual in this 50th anniversary of the original Bicentennial
Celebration event in 1976. Tnx for the qso's! 73 Bob, KQ2M

This was a lot of fun! I've never had so many QSOs in such a short time! I marked myself as "fixed"
but I'm not sure if that's correct. I was at home, using my portable antenna and portable radio on
battery power several hundred feet away from my shack so I could have a saltwater ground. It would
be great to have that type of situation clearly explained as "fixed" or "portable" in the FAQs

I operated from a POTA park # GB-5475 Barford Road Pocket Park outside WRTC Headquarters in St.
Neots, England. I used a portable 20-foot carbon fiber mast with a Spooltenna 10 to 40 EFHW antenna.
There were no benches or picnic tables in the shade and it was so hot, I had to operate in the
shade. I wound up sitting and lying on the ground! I was able to work 4 WRTC stations (3 on
40-meters and 1 on 10-meters) in the short time I had to operate. It was fun but I had to get back
to my volunteer duties at WRTC!

Casual entry perhaps 10 hours active overall.
Doubled points compared to 2025. Still could not establish a good Run frequency so all contacts
S&P.
Only 4 WRTC2026 stations logged on 80m
Yaesu FTDX 101MP 100W into EFHW for 10-80m, rising from 6 to 10m. Not the usual antenna but thought
the End Fed might be better for WRTC station as they were close.
Lots of activity overnight after watching England v Norway!

M2L   [photo/doc]
Basically due to lack of preparation and not intending to participate in the contest, I didn't have
antennas other than the 4 element monobander for 15m so a single band CW entry was the order of the
day.
Saturday, conditions were incredible, huge signals from all directions but strangely no JA's. The
rest of Asia was loud as was EU and Africa but managed to hold a frequency and run most of the
morning. NA was loud, especially the West Coast and the band stayed opened well past 01:00 UTC.
Someone threw the switch and turned off the propagation as Sunday was the polar opposite, poor band
conditions with deep QSB but a handful of JA's made an appearance although signals were unstable.
Finished with 1070 QSOs in around 15 hours of operating.
The station performed flawlessly, I felt loud on the band and broke pile ups for mults quite
easily.
Thanks to those who called and apologies to the WRTC teams, but due to my locality and 15m band, the
distance isn't favourable but I did manage to work a couple of the MB calls.

First hour was good, but then pace immediately declined, though was still able to get 100 QSOs in 7
hours (I think my best ever speed for 100 Qs).
Strange propagation, worked 3 VE before ever seeing a K - but in theend K was somehow my (joint)
most worked country, with 10 QSOs. 20m and 10m were very, very difficult - struggled to work YU on
10m!!
Could hear some good DX, JA and BY, but not well enough to work - wouldn't have been able to hear my
callsign. Also heard a 4L, but right on a birdy so impossible to copy well.
People seemed to struggle with copying my call - including worked before stations, but not for the
reasons I expected (I thought people would trust SCP too much and think I was still M7NMP) but I do
assume some issues did arise from the fact that my new call is not in SCP.
I only worked 4 of the WRTC stations as they were only going to be workable on 40/80m (but I only do
40m) but 40m was doing what 40m does best, lots of QSB, so not worth the effort - sorry!
Went to sleep at 2140 UTC (and watched the world cup match!!) with 20,000 points!
Morning was horrible, got to rig at 0715 UTC and worked a K on 40m. I then went to 20, nothing of
note except hearing a PY.

Limited time in the chair since it was my birthday on Saturday. My station was a BuddieHEX and Flex
6500 @100 watts, from Friday Harbor, WA. The bands did not cooperate early on. 10m was dead. 15m was
doable but no one was hearing me. 20m came alive late in the day. A fun contest.

N7EPD
Got a late start Saturday morning but don't think I missed much.
Couldn't get a run going as I believe everyone was looking for
the WRTC stations which is a good thing. 15 meters was open to
Europe but too long for the MB stations to the PNW. Worked some
on 20 meters and by 1800Z started hearing the MB calls on 15.
Worked many of the WRTC stations on the available list and then
had a minor run to Japan on 15 meters starting at 2100z. Around
0000z 20M was wide open to europe from the PNW and cleaned up all
of the WRTC stations on the available list. Had a great Europe
run on 20M until about 0530z with a few Asia at the end. Band
seemed like it was closing by 0600z so quit and went to bed.
Worked 48 unique WRTC callsigns; a few on multiple bands or modes.

N8KH
For the first 10 hours or so, band conditions were very poor on
the higher bands. The noise was normal, but signals were very
weak. I couldn't hear anybody. Conditions improved later, just
in time for me to go to sleep.

Great contest, had time to stop and take care of chores and animals also a short nap. Had to shut

evento. ¡Nos vemos en el próximo concurso!

Most of the WRTC stations were weak on 20 and 15 and therefore very few SSB qso. 40m was better and
I was too late in the morning for 80m. 10m band brought no WRTC stations signals at all. Poor
conditions.
I was running 1 KW into a pair of Hex beams and 3 el wire beam on 40m.

I rather like this contest. However I do not like the adjustment
of when the Z day begins/ends. It turns it from two opportunities
day-time operation to one. I was eventually out in the car, with
the good ol' 1/4 wave antennas. The prop fcst was overall poor,
however I heard a goodly number of HQ Club stns, and some known
contest stations. Fortunately there were others. I'd recently
operated in a M/M at a contest stn so understood why I was freq.
not heard or well understood. I've identified some antenna work
that may assist in the future. Tnx to all who worked me. 73, John

I was aware of Chris, VO2AC, VE3FU, and Gerry, VE1RM, W1VE, being judges in WRTC 2026. Mike, VE9AA,
I was especially thinking about you during this contest, noting everything you wrote in the groups
io list server of the Maritime Contest Club (MCC), https://www.maritimecontestclub.ca/,
https://groups.io/g/maritimecc. I had just returned from about ten days of business travel and
assessed my family commitments I decided that I had time to participate. Jet lag from Europe was
good to wake up without an alarm at 06:15 UTC to get a few more Qs. Despite getting a certificate of
proficiency in amateur radio way back in 2010, and despite organizing the 2020 ITU Zone 9 RAC
participation, The Canadian Amateur, p. 29-31, July-August, 2020, I did not know about WRTC 2026.
Having found about WRTC 2026 from the MCC over the past few months, my station seemed to be calling
me; I couldn't resist the call. I made as many contacts as I could with the 50 WRTC teams; I got 30
teams. I also got 14 HQs. Propagation to the teams was good from my QTH, but I didn't get any ZLs or
VKs. From my point of view, all the contacts with the teams are anonymous, but I know that I would
be making CW Qs with ops who are famous in the community of amateur radio. It was great to think
that the judges Gerry and Chris might have heard my call sign. However, it was also great to get CW
Qs with people I know, Ron, VE9VN, and Vlad, VE3JM. Ron and Vlad, I didn't say hi for two reasons,
first, I didn't want to slow you down, and second, the only way I can send your name is to program a
keyboard macro with your name for N1MM Logger Plus and my K1EL WKmini. I am tempted to program HI
DAVE, because Dave, VE3KG, always says hi to me. Regarding my ongoing development of CW skills, I'm
mainly working on my ears. Unlike my terrifying experience of running at 7 wpm in the ACQP as
VE9RAC, in this contest, it was only S&P. I set my keyer to match the speed of the DX, usually 30
wpm. I liked having no serial number in this contest. I cannot hear most things at 30 wpm, but I can
hear my call sign and if it is incorrect, as well as a question mark, a shortened question mark
which I just heard in this contest, AGN, and the ITU zone after the DX sends it often. There was one
DX's zone I was having trouble hearing. I kept hearing 2N and then I realized, right, cut numbers,
zone 29; I remember Mike, VE9AA, writing long post about his opinion on cut numbers. I used low
power this time. I found it interesting to get the teams' responses to my call sign. Some of them
have extraordinary ears. I remember cranking my keyer up to 34 wpm to match the DX and having to
send my call sign only once. Only a few teams needed me to repeat my call sign. I think the DXes
like getting zone 9s. I found I have to keep the speaker wire away from the coaxial cable at the
back of my ICom IC-7000. I use the program fldigi to decode some CW, if it has a high SNR and the
code is computer-generated. This soapbox is a more of a blog about my journey into CW, from Code
Quick, to the SKCC, and a variety of techniques. Mike has mentioned CWops, which I am moving toward,

great operators. Stayed with CW due to the band conditions.
Tried to work all WRTC stations heard on the bands for fareness

Was a challenging contest, band conditions were just awful from my QTH. Nonetheless, had a good time
operating.

Got on for a short time just after midnight local.
20m was in great shape and 40m was decent.
Found 7 of the WRTC competitors at the bottom of
40m and 9 HQ stations overall.
Thanks for the QSOs and 73, Ron (W8RU).

Good Contest. Great to see a lot of European Stations back in
the mix. Conditions on the bands were pretty good. Only
complaint was that this contest is very difficult to score.

I wish there was a mobile category because that's all I do. But it was a good time even with some
bad QSB at times.

This IARU GiG was another mixed-bag from KN6NBT's Ramona QTH.
Considering the lower SFI, the decision was made to run LP and
not QRP this year.
Running remote found me up against some irritating 1-second internet dropouts
requiring me to "read thru the dropouts". The last 5 hours of the contest
mostly resolved that and is where a majority of the contest happenings happened.
Even if you were S-9, with the dropouts, multiple repeats were needed.

There were some surprisingly nice (for the left coast) openings to EU
on 15 and 20 meters, altho 10-meters was a complete no-show.
I couldn't make 40-meters happen until 05:00z when things
began to happen. 20-meters was THE band off and on in
the IARU contest.
Thankfully there was a plethora of JA stations participating this year,
altho outside of Japan there was very little Asia activity.
The VK/ZL participation was also disappointingly low as was SA.

Look for a write-up on this GiG at: http://WQ6X.Blogspot.com.

Conditions were favourable on Saturday on 15 and 20 mtrs but poor
on Sunday, especially 10 mtrs. Hope there will be improvement
next year.

ZL2F
Challenging conditions on 80 metres, but fun anyway. I had limited time to take part, but any time
on air was better than none! One suggestion though - would the QRQ stations furiously calling CQ at
35wpm or more, please leave a gap between their CQ's, so those of us trying to call them can at
least send a 4 character callsign before they call CQ again. A number of stations were not doing
this, and it reduces their chances of a QSO . As the Romans used to say - "Festina lente - hasten
slowly." A little more time listening between CQ's for those QRQ experts wouldn't go astray!
Thanks and sincere 73 to everyone who managed to work me.

were weak and the noise high so I was
