This time it was a testimonial participation, it was not possible to organize
everything well with enough time. No inband stations and some bands had to be shared
with the same operator. Thanks to everyone for calling us.

EI2KC
Operated casually in the contest, in a non-competitive spirit. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Antennas used
were dipoles for 80/40/20 and an Antron 99 for 15/10. Loved using a mixture of CW and phone, as I
have spent too much time on FT8 lately. Conditions were reasonably good for a wires/vertical station
like mine. Some nice action was had on 10 metres, although I have to admit to missing out on 40
metres at the crucial time. Was happy to make over 350 QSOs and quite glad to "hand out points" to
other stations.
For CW, I used my home-brew hacksaw blade key which made it even more enjoyable. Radio is an Icom
IC-7300. Selectivity was quite sufficient on a crowded 20m band.

sporadic E on high bands just for using no beam.
Wkd 282 JA contacts(45.6% of the whole QSOs, one point contact),
so pts/Q's is not high(2.5).
Some nice surprises on some bands.

K3CCR
K3CCR is the club station at the Collington continuing-care
retirement community at FM 18OW in MD, just east of DC. N3UM and
W3GB operated Multi-1 HP in the July 2021 IARU contest. Our goal
was to beat our best result, in 2020. We did that in 91% as many
BIC hrs, with 81% as many Q pts but 126% as many mults, to claim
a 2% higher score. More mults and fewer Q pts came because the
C3 for 10 & 15 M was OK in 2021 but bad in 2020. We did what has
worked best for us in IARU; do mostly CW on 40 and 20 M, and get
lots of HQ mults and 5-pt Qs. For the first 15 hrs. 12-03Z we
alternated 2.5-hr. shifts. This let us rest, eat, do chores, and
come back fresh. On 20 M 12-13Z N3UM ran for 75 Qs and 15 Zn but
no HQ mults, then clicked spots for 32 Qs and 24 HQ mults. Next
shift 1430-17Z W3GB did 15 M and 20 M CW, and tried 20 M SSB
(slow), for 34 Qs and 22 mults. At 17Z we had 139 Qs, 371 pts,
and 62 mults. N3UM clicked spots 17-1930Z for 62 CW Qs, 53 on 20
and 9 on 15 M, plus 13 HQ mults. W3GB 1930-22Z clicked on 4
bands for 20 CW Qs each on 10 and 15 M, 6 SSB Qs on 10 M, and 11
CW Qs on 20 and 40 M. Wow, 25 HQ mults and 12 Zn in 57 Qs. From
22-0030Z N3UM ran for 121 of 152 Qs and 23 HQ mults on 40 M CW.
He got 90 Qs 23-00Z, our best hour. From 0030-0240Z W3GB got 70
Qs on 40 M, then 7 on 20 M by 0250Z. In the last shift till QRT
to sleep, N3UM got 19 HQ mults and 98 CW Qs; 63 on 80 M 0255-
0406Z, 20 in a run, then 13 on 160 M, 4 more on 80 M, and 18 on
40 M by 0512Z, when rate died. W3GB came in at dawn 1042-1157Z
and got 33 CW Qs on 15 M and 7 on 20 M, all in EU but 9G in AF,
for 148 Q pts and 13 HQ mults to get just past our 2020 claim.

Log entries are correct to the best of my knowledge. However, I
did experience an antenna system issue that possibly caused me to
incorrectly assess whether some contacts were completed. The SWR
changed during some transmissions, leaving the noise floor
significanlty elevated after transmission, which obscured the
received signals. Typically that was resolved by retuning (which
took only a few seconds), but by then the contacted station
had moved on. If both of us had sent the exchange, I logged the
contact, essentially assuming the other station would still be
looking for confirmation if my exchange info was not received.
Thus it is possible my log contains some contacts that are not in
the other station's log. There is just no way for me to be sure
within the time window for submitting my log.

unlike some recent evenings, they were NOT hearing me.
I probably should have run 5W, but I traditionally run 1/2W
in this contest and usually do better than I did this year.
Disappointing conditions, but still fun on the CW bands.

First licensed in 1978, this is my first ever real contest. I logged with pen and paper, afterwards
downloaded N1MM+ logging program and manually entered QSO's. A steep learning curve! Quite pleased
with the result considering I used my trusty old IC735 and a simple G5RV strung from a tree. Puzzled
by generated summary showing several bands twice:

           7 1 3 0 0 3,0
          14 1 3 0 0 3,0

certainly a bit different compared to my operations from the suburbs of Boston, Massachusetts!
Remote is definitely another experience.

My first IARU championship. Very cool.

W0ZW
Lots of activity to be found on CW (except 160, where I worked only one station). Interesting
propagation. 10m was open at 8:00 AM local, but favored EU rather than the usual SA path. 20m was
open to EU late into the night. The Pacific region opened much later than I expected but with a
notable lack of JAs. Maybe they were all at the Olympic games. The highlight for me was working D4Z
on 10m, a new one on that band. Your NA 28 MHz antenna is loud in New Mexico, guys!

to the IARU contest. Although to work on Saturday I can attest that conditions on 15, 20 and 40
meters are rising. Did about 70 QSO's and many HQ's. Interestingly some contacts were made during
the nighttime when normally the bands closed at 7pm AST, so welcome Cycle 25!
