We have rebooted after severe damage of towers and antenna which
was caused by Typhoon Mawar on late May. We built up 40m dipole
and multi-band vertical antenna. But we did not operate 24 hours,
because we have to build up towers and antenan during the last
week end. CU on the next year.

This time, the propagation yielded much-improved results. We were thrilled to experience a favorable
opening on the 15-20 meter band, allowing them to establish contact with operators in Australia
using the special call signs VL4U. The adrenaline rush of making QRP contacts with stations in Japan
(8N8HQ) kept them awake during the quieter hours, preventing them from succumbing to sleep.

We expressed our gratitude to Ricardo, EA4M, for his collaboration in operating Morse code. Watching
Ricardo skillfully operate Morse code inspired to us continue their pursuit of learning CW for
future participation in mixed-category contests.

Once again, thanks to Victor, who had joined with me in this thrilling journey. Together, we faced
challenges that demanded even greater effort but rewarded them with invaluable lessons and room for
improvement. The contest organized by the (IARU) had been a fun and enjoyable experience, creating
lasting memories.

I had no 20M antenna (as well as 80M/40M) due to maintenance (I tried 20M with 15M with no chance),
so I just worked on 15M and 10M on saturday, half-contest. On sunday I made a few QSOs more, just to
round the results. I had interesting long-path QSOs on 15M, so a positive experience. Maybe next
year I'll do a full-time contest. Due to previous day flare, propagation was not so good, but on 15M
I managed DX till midnight: great! This is an interesting contest...

K3CCR
K3CCR is the club station at the Collington continuing-care
retirement community at FM 18OW in MD, just east of DC. In the
2023 IARU test N3UM and W5MPB operated Multi-1 HP Assisted. N3UM
did all CW, W5MPB all SSB. We hoped to beat our 2022 IARU claim.
We did that; 1.25 X the Qs, 1.47 X the Q pts, and 1.02 X the
mults for 1.5 X our 2022 score. Great condx gave us more Qs and
more pts/Q. We alternated 3-hour shifts, as worked well before.
N3UM went first, 12-15Z. Using Avail. Mults & Qs he got 37 Qs on
20 M, then 36 Qs on 15 M by 1339Z. Then all Telnet spots died.
He tried 7 good clusters; none connected. IT guru W5MPB found it
was not us; clusters were just AWOL. At 1442Z N3UM ran at 79/hr
for 24 15 M Qs in 18 min, but rate died. CW spots again 1446Z,
low quality from a few clusters. We were QRT ~1 hr. N3UM got 29
more 15-M Qs by 15Z. SSB sigs were sparse; W5MPB got 1 20-M SSB
Q and 55 15-M Qs 1512-1749Z. CW had more sigs; from 18Z N3UM got
17 Qs on 20 M, 28 on 15 M, then 77 on 20 M by 21Z. W5MPB had his
best shift 21-00Z, 99 Qs on 20 M. N3UM's best shift was 00-03Z;
129 40-M Qs in 2 hrs, 28 in a run, then 15 80-M Qs and 45 20-M
Qs. On the late shift 03-06Z W5MPB hopped on 4 bands to scrape
up 45 Qs, with most sigs dupe or no-copy. He did 12 QSYs (all
met the 10-min rule), and got 1 to 6 Qs on each hop. N3UM was on
10-12Z. He got 9 40-M Qs, with ZL and W1AW/KH6, then 26 20-M Qs,
and a last 42 15-M Qs in 43 min. We got many I4X WRTC Qs, SSB &
CW. Easy & fun to work world-class ops, even with weak signals.

Great IARU contest as usual, lots of fun.

However, whats up with the 5 to 10 EU CW stations sending CW at 40 wpm? That's really hard to copy
through the aurora for us non-assisted stations. Some of these stations were HQ stations. Why? both
of our scores would be higher if they just slow down to 30 wpm.

K8GL
Part time effort unfortunately. Great Contest!

I was a little burned out after a week of being K2B in 13
Colonies event. Glad with the number of HQ stations I heard.
I think 79 HQs stations I had in the log. Picked up a few Asia
& OC zones Sunday morning befor church. The first new contest of
the PVRC contest season. Conditions at the start seemed poor
but picked up in the late afternoon and evening. I wanted the
NU1AW ARRL HQS station but never heard NU1AW spotted or if anyone
worked them. I did get W1AW/KH6 on three bands. I never got on
10M or 80M but should have.

Very limited time for this IARU contest. Puppy training class in the
morning and a birthday party for a six year old grandson afterward in
his home about two hours away from my QTH. Followed by a local
festival in the evening. My first QSO was at 0502 UTC. Lots of good
activity during my brief time and condx seemed to be good. No QSO's
made with any of the WRTC stations sad to report. Hopefully I'll
have
a better contest in 2024!

early hours to work the HQ stations. Some really great CW ops out
there! Thanks to all! I hope to work the contest again next year! 73

This is my first IARU-HF contest. I started late and the conditions
were quite bad with very few stations heard. Running LP was a big
challenge as most stations I could hear simply could not hear me.
I took a break to have dinner with family and came back late in my
evening to much better condx. I did work a small number of the
WRTC stations, which was my goal. Sadly few were heard and fewer
still could hear me. The solar cycle giveth and the solar cycle
taketh away. Overall a very casual effort but already looking
to next year!

The bands were up and down all weekend. Noise levels seemed to stay high except
after a thunderstorm late Saturday evening/night. 15m and 20m were busy with
stations spotting but I seemed unable to work them with my 100w and G5RV. EFLW,
or HF2V. 40m was dead and 80m was even worse at my QTH. Still, I was able to
add 6 more countries to my SSB DXCC roster and getting W1AW/KH6 on 80m made my
day. Thank you to all the ops that pulled me out of the ether. All that said,
I'm still pleased with my score. Now on to the NAQP RTTY. Cheers and 73.

I got a late start due to a steaming hot (that means heat index,
sunburn, and deerflies) fishing attempt in the morning. Then on
my first QSO, N1MM+ quit sending CW in the middle of a
transmission. Something like this happened during WPX, and
disconnencting and reconnecting my Winkeyer fixed it, so that is
all I had to do. However, I did take a look at the USB
connections and decided to add another ferrite choke in the hope
that it might help. Finally, I started making QSOs, grabbed a
few to start on 10m and then moved to 15m, which had a good
number of stations. In spite of all the stations, it was
somewhat tough, with a high noise level, probably due to the
approaching thunderstorms. That's about when I got a call
notifying me of a good friend's sudden and unexpected passing.
If you knew Joe, WA4GIR, he was a great guy that I counted among
my best ham friends. Needless to say, that took the wind out of
my sails, so with thunder storms threatening anyway, I pulled the
plug. Late evening turned out to be a different story. I got on
the radio again about 9:30 pm to find 15m still open with some
good multipliers and 20m loaded. Conditions were good and I did
S&P at a high rate. Attempts to run were interupted by phone
calls and other priorities, but my one significant run had a rate
of 150+, which is pretty nice with my little station.
Unfortunately, I had another fishing outing planned for the next
morning and couldn't stay up.  All-in-all, it was lots of fun;
the evening action made up for the bad fishing and sad news, and
the day ended on a high note.

Great conditions, with the K-Index at 1 for the entire contest period.
The high bands were much better than last year, so the low bands had
little activity. It was lots of fun to work so many of the little WRTC

improved, and they got much louder.

Due to some challenging issues in the beginning I got a late start.
The propagation was disturbed in the beginning but some 9 hours later
15m and 20m opened to stateside. Despite of all shortcomings I had an
enjoyable CW-practice in this contest. Working the WRTC-operators was
a lot of fun. No matter what was their final standong was I feel like
each and everyone of them were real professionals. It was very easy
to S&P those guys. A nice 200+ boost to my final score which fell
short only an inch to 2 million. I missed only two more stations.

This contest was another great opportunity for 2BSIQ. I used similar setup including my own 2BSIQ
tools as previous times this year. The problem was that by last weeks, I was more focused on our
OL7M VHF section, so I was not so familiar with the operation for first hours. I was also in time
pressure when preparing the setup. So I started at time, but in stress and without properly setted
all operator ergonomy, presets and procedures.
The 2BSIQ setup was N1MM with my own one-keyboard synchronization software.

I apologize to EF6T and to others in Non-assisted category for sending livescore to there, instead
of to the assisted one.

The 10m conditions were bad, together with only one sharp not rotating antenna I lost some easy
mults here.

Thanks to OK1MU for support including great dinner and to OK2ZAWs QRO.CZ ham parts company for
providing technical solutions to our station.

Discovered a broken 17m element wire on the 6-band Hexbeam a day or
two before the contest. Thought this would not be a problem on the
contest bands but the wind blew the broken wire on to the 20m and
15m elements, causing the SWR to fluctuate wildly. This also caused
the loss of rig control, so I had to enter the band manually each
time I changed bands. High levels of absorption in the tropics in
summertime meant weak signals during daylight hours. 73 Steve PJ4DX.

Hi to all from S59TIM team...

It was first bigger contest for S59NV - Neja, 15 years young. She got her licence on 03.2023.

It was fun, a bit hard as only 100W and low end feed antenna. But it was a good training for Field
day 2023

Meet you in next contest...

After my first 3 QSO's I had a first smell of burnt plastics.
Next QSO my computer and radio did shut down. I had to break and
start searching for what was possibly wrong. Lost a bit my
motivation and decided that it was over for this time.

I have recently been working on the shack and other equipment but have settled on Kenwood. Decided
on a Kenwood TS-850V abt 100 wtts in the house as a base and a homemadecross needle meter. With all
the the old homemadecross transceiver UW3DI-2 and UA1FA has been rather confusing but I did pick
TS-590SG.

On the roof you’ll find a Delta Vertical on 10-80m Band antenna.

it.

Just recently acquired my ticket, and with 100 watts to a wire in the trees, I made my very first
QSO with a station 9665.8 miles away in Sydney, Australia! (Apparently under very poor 10m band
conditions… though I didn’t know any better). A great-big “thank you” to my first Australian
contact (David: VJ2J) for his tremendous patience, kindness and support!

IARU was a lot of fun again this year. I only had a few hours to
participate.

With only access to the 10m band using a 6 over 6 OWA Yagi stack, and the band-scope flat lining, it
was amazing what a little CQing produced. Frequently considered how silly I may be wasting my
weekend calling into seemingly dead air, I'd say 90% of the signals were under S2, with others S9 to
20/9.

Had very limited time to work the contest , but was very happy to hear
all these very loud EU headquarters stations that I could work with my
100 watts and dipoles ! Last year I worked ZERO EU stations !! It's
hard to break though the east coast wall from Arizona so thanks to all
that heard me !

First time in this contest, and it was quite a fun one. Cycle 25
really helped with the DX zones and I was surprised how well 20,
15, and even 10M were doing well into the evening and early
morning. Thanks to all who participated and 73, W9TCV

I missed FD, but my plan for this event was a similar. Work all 24 hours, operating in the spirit
of the event and the WRTC teams.
Have you read the book Contact Sport by J. K. George N3BB? I really enjoyed that book. Teams
learned their callsign about an hour before the Test started.

All I knew is, that they were in Italy (a 50 miles radius from each other). I didn't learn their
Callsigns until the start. I copied an IV9R then an IV6P and an IV6Q, wait the V is a 4, (OK
correction). I they were all pretty weak, using a 100 Watts, Tribander and Wires. A couple times a
few were much stronger, but mostly all very even. The IARU committee has a very tough job finding
all the sites (50, 100?) and none of them being any better or worse than others. But its
impossible, and some lucky team is bound to gain a competitive advantage with their site. I heard
it a few times. Their only a few KHz apart and one of them is stronger.

I did take breaks (but two hours worth?). After a few hours the bands stopped working for me. I
was S&P, jumping from band to band looking for anyone anywhere and my rates were often below 60.
So, I took breaks. But my rate really started climb after dark. I got into a good Run on 15 and a
very long Run 20 meters.

I got two hours of sleep after the bands basically closed for me around 4:50AM. I got up and worked
Asia and Europe in the last hour.

I really had a fun time with it.

Very part time operation due to other commitments and operated all CW and search and pounce mode.

Transceiver: Kenwood TS-180s with 500 Hz IF filter and Hi-Per Mite active audio filter (200 Hz).
Antenna: 40 meter EFHW mounted horizontally 20 feet up.

20 meters was not very good into Europe during the morning or early afternoon but got much better
later in the evening and was in great shape when I got back on around 0600 UTC Sunday morning which
is similar to what I've noticed numerous times this year (not good conditions during the day but
fantastic conditions during late night/early morning hours).

This was a very challenging contest due to band
conditions. The QSB and QRN together with Pile Ups
made it difficult at times to copy Call Signs and ITU
Zones. However despite this I enjoyed the contest and
look forward to next year.
