Was hoping for more time for this contest however family event
took over the whole weekend.

AF1T
Lost time Saturday repairing my 432 system. This was my 60th June VHF Contest.

This is always an exciting contest. It's fun to chase different propagation modes on VHF and UHF.
Thankfully there was a good amount of 6m Es this year.

After hearing almost a dozen European countries on the preceding Tuesday, I had
high hopes for decent conditions during this year's contest. However, it turned
out even worse than during 2025 with just about half of 2025's QSO count.

K1DC
Well, the plan was to join the W2SZ crew on Mt. Greylock again
this year. A business trip and my 2nd bout of Lyme conspired to
wreck that plan. I ended up doing a few hours on my potato
station on 6m.

K1FJM
With current rule changes, I operated from home QTH on 6 meters as k1fjm and also a mile from home
QTH as a rover. Minimal score achieve with limited time available for this one. Did 6 m analog &
digital from home QTH and 6 meters thru 23 cm long/qrp voice from roving site as n6ze/r

My computer did not make any contacts, it only logged.

K5ND   [photo/doc]
It was a good contest with the usual challenges during setup with broken clamps on the mast and the
log not syncing between WSJT-X and N3FJP. Fixed the log and duct tape to the rescue on the mast. I'm
confident that there will be some discoveries of Not in Log during the log checking. On Sunday it
was particularly tough to complete some QSOs with up and down propagation on my 10 watt signal.
Overall, it was a good contest.

K5OMC
ENJOYED THE CONTEST

K5VG
Too bad 6m didn't open up as big as it had opened last week. The highlight of the contest was a
digital QSO swapping grids with the XYL using our Mesh companion devices to send text messages on
910 MHz. We used the zero-hop, i.e. direct, non-repeater mode.

K6RE
Completing medium-haul on the microwave bands with mountaintoppers (NE6Z,KE6GLA,K1FIE) added a great
new dimension to the fun! Trying digital on 2m provided longhaul grids that are rare using SSB/CW.
Logging unexpected DX on 6m in the closing minutes was the cherry on top. Looking forward to the
next VHF/UHF and microwave contests! 73, Rich K6RE

K6RO
Part time effort doing 6M FT8 only.
I was hoping for great conditions like a few days ago, but my only DX was Canada..
Lots of QSB , many calls I did not log,as I figured they did not log me.
Maybe they did ?
This contest was real work, with numerous repeats with many incomplete q's.
Also I don't have A/C in my shack yet,and it was darn hot in here, even with 2 fans running..
I hope A/C in a few weeks.
My plans this summer include installing UHF/ VHF antennas .
It's going to be a busy rest of 2026 in Casco Maine.
Thanks for the q's,
Larry k6ro/1

KA3ZPH
Was doing a SOTA activation and qso'd with some contesters. I'm
not a contester but it's my understanding if I don't submit a
log, their qso's won't get a match, and they get penalized.
I'm only submitting this so they don't get penalized. I've
never submitted a log to a contest before and don't really know
what I'm doing. 73, KA3ZPH.

KD6EFQ/R
My station operation was limited to part-time ops for VHF contest
I operated in two grids: DM12 and DM13 in San Diego Section
Convair/220 ARC members were on-the-air with D*Star simplex too for POTA.
Sunday, I was able to operate on several band from two POTA parks in DM13.
I experienced WSJT-X interface failure with my radio so I could not use FT8.
I observed many stations only using the calling frequencies for contests QSOs
but I tried to get QSOs off the calling frequencies to reduce confusion.
My station operated mostly in POTA parks within San Diego Section (SDG)
as a POTA activator and sometimes VHF Rover contest participant in DM12 and DM13.
POTA allows all modes and bands while the ARRL VHF contest restricts QSOs to one
per band per station per grid (for rovers) so I advised stations on which call applied.
So, I was able to work some stations on multiple modes for POTA, with only one QSO
being my station as a /R rover. POTA is a lot more interesting than the ARRL contest.
I worked several other rover stations in San Diego Section for this contest, which is fun.

Preparations went well! I was excited to finally be able to put my best effort into a June VHF
contest and hoped it would be my best so far. Instead, I had a data interface problem that had me
tied for four hours! UGH! I didn't get it repaired until Monday. I made the best of Sunday and will
try again next time. See more details at

Not very familiar with 6M Contest FT18 procedures, or 6M in general. Seemed like there was less
propagation on the weekend then the few other times I've been on the band in the week before. QSOs
from Virginia mostly on northwest slant to WI and MN, some straight west. Other than first
afternoon to CA and NV, very little to far west, south and northeast, surprisingly. Still had fun.
Have two Hexbeams and a 6M loop at 45 feet. Thanks for the test.

Had an incredible time with June VHF contest this year. Was hoping to get some 2M SSB work in but
6 meters was hot all evening!
Added several new and rare grids to my worked list this year.
My old and faithful Yaesu FT-817 hung tough again this year, and 3 elements was all I needed to work
coast to coast on FT8!
Texas weather was perfect, not to hot, but plenty of sun to keep my power pack charged and working
into the late evening.

Many thanks to all the local ops who indulge my obsession with VHF+ operating. Special thanks to
Dan, KL1JP for the gift of a 2m mobile rig with considerably more oomph than my handheld.
Perfect weather this weekend, and unusually few bugs. This was my first time operating as a rover
and I doubt I'll ever do another June VHF in another category. Not everything went perfectly to
plan, but I'm excited to keep working on my setup and route planning for September.

Fantastic conditions...a few days earlier. Was working 2m Es into the nothern states and Canada on
Wednsday with MUF reaching 180Mhz. By the weekend, very poor conditions. Nothing was going on
Sunday afternoon, took a nap for a couple hours. With Wednesday's conditions the QSO count would
have easily doubled. Maybe next time... :-)

KN6FKQ
Another nice contest. I was surprised to work KE6VZ in Malibu

All kinds of adversities this weekend poor propagation
The severe wx across most of the country but strangely
here Saturday was better prop than Sunday. Overcast
However don't tell me there is no such thing as one
decoders either QSBed out or only called 1 CQ and gone.

KT1R
Big storm front moved through Sunday at 6PM lost power for the rest of the contest. Conditions were
good on 6M with E's and good tropo conditions on higher bands. Activity was up.

KX7L
Not my best score in the June contest, but not my worst.
Saturday started out with an opening to CO and KS, eventually
moving into OH, and some double-hop into FL. Then Sunday morning
saw a pretty long lasting opening into SoCal and AZ. Plus lots
of local activity. I got my new 222 MHz Quagi up this week, but
only managed 1 QSO on that band. I just didn't meet up with many
of the 222 MHz gang on SSB during the contest. Kinda hard to
arrange a QSY on FT8! Thanks for all the QSOs!

N0HAX
FT8 still dominates most of the QSO's.

N0JK   [photo/doc]
Got on in between operating ZF5T to hand out a few contacts. Used MFJ-9406 and 2 element yagi on 15
foot mast. Thanks Ed, N7PHY for DN08! There was a nice opening in the last half hour of the contest
to W1, W2, W8 and VE3. Put N1NQD in the log "right at the buzzer" before 0300 UTC. Those who stopped
earlier missed out. Never quit.

N0UK
Good fun although rather a shame that this has become largely a 6m FT8 cont
est.
Only one Q on 10GHz this time on non-enhanced CW.

N1CMD
Continuing to grow my station, adding 2.3 GHz and I think I beat my last year June score. Most
importantly I had a ton of fun!

N2LQH
First weak signal contest using the new VHF/UHF station from FM29PT in Southern New Jersey. Operated
6m FT8/SSB plus 2m, 222, 432 and 1296 MHz. 162 QSOs, 54 grids, final score 10,368. Flex 8600/6400
with Q5 5-band transverter. Learned alot! Lots of help from fellow Packrats.

N2MAK
For the June 2026 VHF Contest, I operated QRP analog-only from
the Bare Hill Unique Area (FN12ir), which is both a POTA
(US-5098) and SOTA (W2/WE-098) in Middlesex, NY. I only had a few
hours, but I had fun and was able to make contacts on 6 different
bands: 6m, 2m, 1.25m, 70cm, 33cm, and 23cm.

N2SLO
And yet another FT8 6M digital contest. When 6M opens contacts on
all other bands suffer. Earlier in the week some great openings
in the early evening. I worked pileups for a few hours, and also
worked Europe. For this contest, not so good but band did open.
Guys/gals, when 6M opens work phone. Get on SSB and make noise.
This contest is dedicated to WB2JAY who passed in January after
the VHF contest. Glenn was missed this contest I will not forget
our chats during the action the past several years.

What a weekend. The 2026 June VHF contest delivered the best 6m propagation I've participated in
and a thunderstorm cut the fun short as 6m was really getting busy.

As a rover I activated 8 grids across Arkansas, Missouri, and Oklahoma: EM15, EM16, EM25, EM26,
EM27, EM35, EM36, and EM37 driving 270 miles Friday and 500 miles Sunday. 760 miles total for a
weekend of radio.
## The Numbers

Band QSOs Pts Mults
----------------------------
6m 150 150 87
2m 24 24 12
1.25m 10 20 9
70cm 2 4 1
----------------------------
Total 186 198 109

A poor score compared to my June 2025 but the weather made me tear-down just as 6m was really
getting active but I did activate 8 grids!
109 worked grids + 8 Rover Activated grids = 117 for the Multiplier
and 198 QSO Points × 117 = 23,166.
**Claimed Score: 23,166**
**Grid multipliers: 117**

The single best contact of the weekend was working **BL11 on 6m**. That's Hawaii. From Arkansas. The
Es gods were generous Saturday night, and for a few minutes the path to the islands was wide open.
And it wasn't just Hawaii — I was copying JA stations on 6m as well. They never heard me, but
hearing Japan from a mountaintop in Arkansas is a reminder of just how wild 6m can get when the band
decides to open up.

Mount Magazine on Saturday night was absolutely amazing. From midnight UTC onward I was running
close to 20 QSOs an hour on 6m — and the rate was still climbing. 15 the first hour, 17 the
second, nearly 19 in the last 50 minutes before I shut down. Then the sky was flashing flashing much
brighter and the thunder was rattling the car and the wind was rocking the car. With a 6m yagi up on
the highest point in the state and lightning closing in on radar, there was only one smart move.

I envisioned standing on top of a wet car, on a wet ladder, in the wind, on the highest point in
Arkansas — hanging onto a 6m yagi that at that moment is functioning as a world-class lightning
rod. And the special bonus fear of watching that ladder catch a gust and cartwheel away on its own,
leaving me stranded on the roof of the car with nowhere to go. Regardless of my score I decided if
I die I won't be able to submit a score so it was time to go. I shut down at 0250z (9:50 PM CDT).
The rain didn't actually land until 3AM. The band, I'm told, kept going wild until 1AM local.
By the numbers, those three missed hours likely cost somewhere between 50 and 80 QSOs, but it was
great practice and fun to see so many 6m grids from a car on a high VHF perch.

N6MI   [photo/doc]
On June 13-14, 2026, Paul (N6NEA) and Scott (N6MI) operated station "N6MI" in the June VHF Contest
from Frazier Mountain, Ventura County, California (DM04ms). This 8,013 foot peak is in the Los
Padres National Forest. (I apologize. We do not participate in POTA, as the POTA powers that be do
not presently allow multi-ops to pass along POTA contacts from the contest station call sign.) We
used a converted news van/COW as our headquarters. We made 330 contacts in 90 grids, using 50
through 1.2 GHz. More details to follow on N6MI.com, along with photos. Thanks for the contacts. 73,
J. Scott Bovitz, N6MI

Antenna disconnected for first 6 hours. Therefore, disappointing
results.

N8LRG
Did the entire contest! During the thunder storm I lost my 432 Amp and was able to use a backup amp.
Scored 4 new grids confirmed so far. 6m Conditions were up and down but Sunday saw a slight
improvement late in the contest. The storm really knocked down proagation while it went through. I
was happy to work all the rovers! They were fun to work and the points/grids were very welcomed! New
upgrades for next contest is new 6M Antenna and will replace some hardtime.

N8QE
Afternoon thunderstorm forced me off the air. Conditions were good all weekend on 6 meters.

N8TP
Didn't get to operate as much as I had hoped and my antenna was a compromise. But at least Es worked
its magic enough to make some decent contacts!

N9TF
It was nice to see some scattering of CW and phone activity, but it could be
so much more, if there were incentive to move ones posterior off the digi
sub band, and "experiment" and learn a new mode. Segragating out analog only
catagory was a mistake IMHO. It only added a negative trible mentality and we
as a hobby lost some talented ops. How to incentivise you say One very simple
change, allow one additional point per Q made on either CW "OR" phone. Guaranteed
you will move the serious contester off digi more often in search of additional
points for scoring. Doing nothing and leaving things as is, only hurts the hobby.
But then again, as us old timers finally die off, and all that's left then will
be the digi crowd, so I guess problem solved. Except for learning the expertise of
communicating a message via phone or CW in less than optimal conditions.

HEX Beam at 53' and 450w on 6m, Band conditions were not great
and minor openings kept up most of Saturday and Sunday was
brutal! You really just had to sit and wait for anything to show
up and pounce! Sadly, the major opening was again early in the
week leading up to the test.... makes you wonder if the contest
could run the whole week hihi :) We did have some east west
opening on Saturday but no major north south at anypoint during
the weekend. Oh well we will see again next year.

E-skip was low for June but inside the potential range. Hot and sticky Saturday. The front dumped
very heavy rain Sunday. It occurred during a transit which was inconvenient but much less upsetting
than during a stop. All hope of tropo was wiped out.

Random analogue contacts have become almost non-existent.

VE7MHI/R
I seemingly had a better time this year compared to 2025. A major
point of success was activating a fifth Grid on Vancouver Island.
On the other hand I made but ONE contact from there. A lot of ops
seemingly did not or would not get on fone for 50 MHz, sticking
FT-8. This was disappointing, not only given my computer/radio
failure. It took a lot of fun out of operating. An observation vs
a complaint. I found a lot of hoped for stations simply not on.
That said I truly felt supported by my neighbourhood ops, both in
or near the city, or just across the water (border.) I made what
I take to be a smooth enough transition from use of VA7OTC to
VE7MHI/R this year. Will it trip anything up I don't yet know.
Will I continue to drive as far as I need on these Island roads,
esp. at the current cost of petrol/gas Unsure. Tnx to all who
worked me, esp. VE7XF and VE7US. 73, John

in EM12. BIG signals from K5TR and K5LLL made it extra fun at each grid stop. Looking to add more
improvements for the next one. Shout out to N5ZY for his CoPilot rover SW.

My operation with other SBMS members was to commemorate a June
VHF Party Contest from 1956 where records were set on 1.2 and 3.4
kMc/s. The result was published in the September 1956 issue of
QST. Ed Tilton commented then on the fact that the two contest
QSOs were significant not only because they set distance records
but were also beyond the horizon. 70 years later in the same
contest we (easily) repeated the contacts and even extended the
beyond line of sight aspect.

Great 6m opening Saturday evening. Thx everyone for all the Q's

W8ISS/R
Had power issues at the start of the contest so didn't get
started for almost two hours.
Plenty of activity at the start on 6m and 2m but bands were up
and down the whole contest.

grids in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

This was fun! There was a great 6m opening on
Saturday night. Worked stations from Labrador to
Washington State, and also heard ZL1RS. No QSO
with RS, though (darn!) The opening lasted past
1am local time. Missed 6hrs on Sunday morning
owing to local storms. There was another excellent
6m opening to New England for the last couple
hours of the contest. Thanks for the QSOs and
73! -Ron (W8RU).

6M was wide open! Managed to work multiple DX with 5W and a tape
measure dipole. Fun times!

Missed most of Saturday and Sunday morning but still enjoyed the time I was able to be in the
contest.

My friend AG6KA, Noel Encarnacion, encouraged me to participate in this contest. Together we picked
a high spot near us in the grid just north of us, so we could operate near each other, but compete
separately, and have good elevation for QSOs. During the contest I could hear him and he could hear
me and we took breaks together to have a little fun sharing how the contest was going. Late in the
day he decided to call it done, and I moved my station to another grid closer to home to finish out
the Saturday as a rover activating two grids.

I was not able to operate on Saturday due to a wedding, but when
I could listen, conditions were quiet and not like they were two
days earlier on Six Meters when the band was active. I set up as
QRP portable on a hill in Long Island (FN30) early on Sunday
morning and worked local stations on the lower four bands until
Sporadic-E made an appearance around 11:30 AM local time when I
worked AA4ZZ on SSB in EM96. Over the next 40 minutes, I was
able to pull more five more stations from the EM grid field on CW
and SSB. After that, the band faded for the rest of the contest
for this area. I found out just before the contest that active
FN30 operator, Glenn, WB2JAY, had passed away earlier in the
year, just after the January VHF contest. He was very active in
the ARRL contests over the years.

Fun VHF contest.
From Northern Oregon, I did get some Midwest and East Coast QSOs but the openings were VERY short
lived.

I calculated a different total score of 765 compared to the ARRL entry form total of 748. There were
38 50 MHz, 5 144 MHz and 1 432 MHz QSOs. I believe the entry form did not factor in the 2 points for
the 432 MHz QSO.

See you in the next contest...

Did not gain much success (again) for this time. The 6 Meter band
minisculy opened with activity around the 1:30 PM and 2:30 PM
timeframe. Unfortunately, I did not hear any SSB nor CW signals
on 2 Meters - not even from W3SO. Thanks for this VHF
opportunity, and I will try again on the next 'ARRL 222 MHZ and
Up' & Sept ARRL VHF Contest events.

First Timer in the June VHF Contest. Was fun to see what 2m FT8 can do. 6M
magic band... well the magic did not happen much for me for when I could go r
over and get on. Ran a portable telescopic mast with homebrew 6m Hexbeam, a
2m 3ele yagi a few feet below that, and an IC-7300MK2 and IC-9700. Was on
from EM89, EM88, EM78, EM79 although no one could hear me for when I was br
iefly in EM78.

The WSJT-X log file was uploaded to LoTW by KF0M.

So, all stations we worked that use LoTW should have credit.

Unfortunately, 6M propagation did not smile on us during the contest like it did earlier in the
week. KF0M was on one day and N0JK was on one day earlier in the week and we each made about 80Q in
about 2hr operation which is just about the maximum rate for FT8.

We made 90 Q with 60 grids during the contest. We worked 6 different countries but that will reduce
our score as for this contest only W and VE stations count.

We did have one dupe so 89 separate callsigns worked. - KF0M

Thanks to Stan, K5GO for offering the opportunity to operate remote from his great Cayman Islands
station (first time remote contesting for me) and to John, KF0M for all his help with WSJT-X and the
software on the ZF5T PC.

The ZF5T station ran smoothly. It receives very well on 6 Meters and we could work just about anyone
that was copied. All contacts I made were FT8. Tried msk144 but no takers. Some people called not in
NA contest mode. Most would complete the contact, but a few insisted on sending a signal report. Due
to internet lag, it was difficult to switch out of NA contest to conventional mode.

6M Propagation was fair Saturday afternoon/evening with some small pileups, but the Es collapsed in
the Caribbean Sunday. A brief Es opening early Sunday morning ~ 1230 UTC to Texas (logged Gator -
N5RZ and a few others) then very brief limited "one and done" type openings were the rule. VE3WCC
FN15 was the best DX for me Sunday. Sunday afternoon and evening very little propagation at all.
Thanks to all that called in. -- N0JK
