Mostly a two day effort only Friday evening, most of Saturday,
and a couple hours late-Sunday afternoon running low power with
lots of calling and attempts to make a QSO. Thanks for the
patience of many, not all waiting on my QSOs. Always a fun
contest. 10m was great. Low bands better Friday evening than
Saturday evening. Thanks for all of the QSOs and see you next
year or sooner in another contest.

were great when I was operating even though there was a solar

I am new to HAM radio. I got licensed 2 months ago and got my radio 3 weeks ago.
It was a thrill to speak to so many DX stations this weekend. Unfortunately, my FT-991A suddenly
stopped working so I couldn't carry on.

Yet I have to I am thrilled what I was able to accomplish with my barefoot 100W setup running into a
hidden wire dipole antenna (hiding in my attic because of HOA).

Thanks to all stations for a fun weekend!

This was my first DX contest as a newish Ham, ~1yr licensed. I had a
lot of fun!! I operated QRP 5W Limited Antenna with a Yaesu 817nd and
a Nelson 9:1 - 41' EFRW @ 30ft height. It's all I've got! I managed to
work all the places I've been wanting to get in the log - Europe,
Russia, Japan, Australia & New Zealand, and some cool Islands! My
favorite DX I got was V55Y in Namibia, almost 2000 miles per watt! I
just about fell out of my chair when he came back to my call. I
appreciate the efforts of all the DX stations in pulling my 5W out of
the noise. Working DX QRP is a great challenge yet very exciting when
it does work. I look forward to participating in many more ARRL
contests. Thanks for all the great contacts! 72 from ID.

I'm relatively new to contesting so I was mainly just trying things
out for this contest. My rig was a 100-W Kenwood TS-520 feeding into a
3-band inverted-vee dipole of my own construction, which was hung from
a nail in the gables of my one-story home.

This was my first proper participation in the arrl. Therfore I completely underestimated the first
night. 20m was open until sunrise, something I did not expect nor have seen before. On the second
and third night 20m closed as expected around midnight. 10m and 15m were really booming on both days
with really good pile-ups. My best time was on saturday evening on 20m with a 250 rate for 10 QSOs
and an overall 150 rate for one hour. This is something I still have to practise. The last night was
sadly really weak. I did around half my dupes in the last hours with unfortunately no new multis,
while still missing some states. But I can undestand that the US- und VE- stations don´t want to
leave the highbands when they are still open.
Luckily no technical problems came up while contesting. After downgrading the PC to a 2-core CPU the
microham device router had this time no problems. Also DxLog worked fine for the whole time.
Unfortunately I forgot to record my CQ-call beforhand. I still coudn´t figure out how to record
with the mk2r+. Nexttime I want to try the recorder of the TRX.
Overall fun contest with good pile ups.
Big thanks to everyone who called (and spotted) me and to the colleagues of my clubstation
DF0SAX/DA2X for letting me do SO.

The ARRL DX SSB was the first contest I participated in when I moved to France last year. My antenna
situation has improved from "none" to "not much", so my goal was just to do better than the previous
year. Poking along at 100W and a dipole, I was duly crushed by the kilowatt signals zipping back and
forth overhead. At least I found some shelter on the low bands in the middle of the night when
reasonable people were sleeping. When I came back from dinner on Sunday afternoon, I believe the K
had risen to 6 and that was pretty much it for my ability to hear anything above 20m. My goal for
next year is to have some sort of directional antenna in place and then... watch out, world!

When I can onky pick out a couple of letters and just say these two letters, the response is an
exchange without a full call sign. I cannot comprehend that the other person fails to fathonm I do
not have their call sign. I have to ask then again for their full call sign. Thus the time to make
this one QSO is twice as long as just a regular exchange, This happened at least hundred times in
this contest. Why has this become such a problem now? Luckily the majoirty of operators are not this
clueless, but over a hundred is ridiculous. Everyone over time mis copies a call sign and dupes
someone. This is just a common error. Not listening to someone who comes back to you call and
clearly does not have your complete call or has mis copied it and not doing nothing about it is
just beng, yes, a LID.

Really struggled to break through the pile-ups of much stronger and better equipped stations, I
really need something better than an 80' endfed but that needs a bigger garden and sadly that's not
going to happen. On the other hand I really enjoyed the experience of working Stateside stations
only as apposed to world wide as in some other contests. Look forward to the next time. Thanks ARRL
for a great contest.

the year but very limited operating time this year - only managed an hour on Saturday and 2 hours on
Sunday. Band in great shape though and managed a decent QSO rate. Worked 44 NA states - missed ND,
WY, UT, ID, AK & HI. Also wkd less VE provinces than I’d have liked. Very enjoyable nonetheless

The contest rules should clearly specify that Not Assisted operators can
connect to the cluster and self-spot. The Self Spot topic is only mentioned
in the blog which doesn't represent the contest rules.
To me, self spotting in not assisted category is conceptually wrong.
At this point it would be better to remove the Not Assisted category as in WPX.
Anyways, thanks to the excellent solar conditions I enjoyed the contest.

Excellent propagation but maybe too stable and too wide so for a low power search and pouncing op
there
was a kind of pile-up everytime. So propagation was better than
previous years but there was less "wave surfing".

With my 5w station to an end-fed 53 foot sloper to 30 foot height, I don't really try ssb qrp dx
much as it is a real challenge. Thought I'd give it a try and was happy with my 20 plus completed
qso's. Yep - was as challenging as I thought it would be but was enjoyable none the less 8>)

K2ORC
I've worked a fair amount of phone and cw qrp over the years, but this is the first time I've
participated in a contest limited to 5w ssb. Suffice to say, it was challenging. My strategy, such
as it was, was to try to start as early as possible to avoid the crowds. My antenna is a 57 ft long
end fed with a 9:1 unun at the feedpoint and a max height of about 7 meters AGL (yep, HOA). So I
knew my PW signal would need to have as little competition as possible if it was to be heard. I
want to send a special thanks to the ops who worked hard to drag my signal out of the mud so we
could complete our contact. I am very appreciative of their efforts. I ended early, but feel I
learned a few things and I am willing to give QRP contesting another shot. Thanks all! 73 de K2ORC

K3CCR is the club station at the Collington continuing-care
retirement community at FM 18OW in MD, just east of DC. N3UM and
W5MPB did Multi-2 in 2024 ARRL DX SSB. We hoped to beat the 1133
Qs and 1.166 M score we claimed in 2023 ARRL SSB. We did, by a
lot; 1.5 X the Qs, 1.2 X the mults, and 1.5 X the score claim.
High bands were hot; 522 of the 577 more Qs we got in 2024 were
on 10 thru 20 M. Low bands poor to fair. At start 00-0340Z N3UM
got 66 Qs on 40 M, 12 on 80 M, & 7 on 20 M by back and forth
hops when bandmaps cleared. He quit to return early. W5MPB 00-
0410Z did high-band hops for 173 Qs; 18 on 10 M, 41 on 15 M, &
114 on 20 M. And 0306 to 0505Z QRT he got 30 80-M Qs and 33 40-M
Qs. Back on at 1206Z, N3UM took his high-band turn; he got 131
15-M Qs, then 118 10-M Qs and quit to eat at 1602Z. Back on at
1402Z W5MPB got 19 20-M Qs, 63 10-M Qs, & 4 15-M Qs and quit to
eat at 1721Z. Back 1827-0155Z, W5MPB band-hopped for 128 10-M Qs
and 104 15-M Qs. He then got 9 15-M Qs & 11 20-M Qs by 0311Z and
quit to return early. Back 1832-2059Z, N3UM got 104 20-M Qs, 54
in a run at 65/hr. He then band-hopped 2101-0212Z for 60 20-M Qs
and 31 40-M Qs. His plan was ~0530Z QRT. But, with just 37 Qs on
80 M, 9 on 40 M, & 5 on 160 M, N3UM quit at 0439Z. On 10 M 1131-
2236Z W5MPB got 305 Qs & DXCC. And, he lunched and in 10 hops
from 10 M he got 1 40-M Q & 64 15-M Qs. On 20 M 1433-1706Z N3UM
got 58 20-M Qs, then 7 15-M Qs and lunched. Then 1954-2258Z N3UM
got 85 20-M Qs, 54 in a 1-hr run. W5MPB got 6 80-M Qs by 2313
QRT. Rare/far mults; 5Z 7Q 9V FK H40 J5 S0 TL TN V5 and ZD7.

Conditions were excellent except on 80 and 160 M. I badly needed
SO2R capability, but the new station construction progess is not
there, yet. A cold was just hanging on, but still managed to
operate 1943 minutes. Also had constant line noise from the NW
on all bands and an intermittent one on the high bands from the
NE.

K5ZD
Good to have 10m open to spread out the activity.

K6NA
Mainly casual S&P with the big knob, enjoying the very good band conditions. Paid no attention to
the clock or specific off-times. Just one small CQ-run into Asia. Enjoyed saying hello to lots of
old friends-- the best part. Thanks for the contacts.

K6NR
I'm not big into phone contests, but I ended up operating twice the
amount of time I did for ARRL DX CW. My runs were not nearly as
productive as in CW and I did a lot more S&P. The result was only a
few more QSOs and quite a few more multipliers.

Conditions seemed very good at times - I particularly enjoyed
sweeping 15 meter Eu stations on Saturday morning, hearing all those
great signals, and feeling strong with everyone returning on the
first call. Later in the contest I could barely break some of the
pileups, including not-very-rare stations like PY.

Thanks to everyone for the QSOs - 73, Dana

Condx were good, but not *quite* as good as the amazing CW weekend! I'm not much of a phone

it was great to hear so many stations on!

K7WY
Came down with a severe cold the day that the contest started so only got to work about six hours of
the contest. Ten meters was wide open but my voice was so weak it was difficult to make contacts.
I still enjoyed searching for DX stations on ten meters. This was my first DX contest using only a
Hustler vertical antenna and with low power. In prior years (when I was WB7RGN) I had monoband
antennas and an amplifier, so this was a new experience. I still enjoyed the contest. I'm hoping
my voice is better next year! 73's, Lee

I am not as interested in phone contests but the great conditions
keep me on the air making contacts. Pulling one signal from the
crowds required careful listening. I tried running a couple of
times with no luch but found I could get a one to two stations a
minute rate with S&P. I think station had good operating and
only heard a few bad/distorted stations.

In the last couple weeks two of the 80 meter 4 square verticals lost the top 22.5 ft. Saturday I
lowered the remaining two and slid the tubing back in and added more hose clamps. I figured out how
to make the connections better, but will need quite a bit of tubing. The hint that something was
wrong was a crackling sound from the tubing moving.

SteppIR did not resonate on 40. The 40M 4 square is under construction. The next step is trenching
and soldering. I took down the backup vertical which was in place where the 4 square is now. 27
QSOs on 40, what a shame!

I'm glad I worked on them because the wind was howling on Sunday and it was hard to walk between the
house and shack. The success of cutting 55 trees (mostly hollow, deformed, or damaged) this past
summer was evident. There was not a single large branch down!

My intent was to run stations since I rarely get to do that and 10 meters was good. The antenna
seems competitive for what it is, but I would have loved stacks! There were plenty of Europeans and
JAs and since I DX I chose good times and filled in the slower periods by S&P, naps, and medical
things.

The XYL brought me a couple great meals that coincided with good propagation. I wish they made left
handed boom headsets so it would be easier to eat left handed.

Hour long power failure. I rested, but generator took care of everything.

Max Rates:
1658Z 7 per inute, for 1 minute, 420/hr.
1703Z 5.1 per minute for 10 minutes, 306/hr.
1719Z 3.3 per minute for 60 minutes, 197/hr.
I'd love to get in the position where lots of guys call and it is fun to pick out 2 calls out at
once. I rarely get spotted, but one time a guy said he spotted me and a minute later the fun
began!

Runs:
1621-1635Z, 10M, 56 QSOs, 256.2/hr

First time entering ARRL DX SSB contest in 21 years. Given facilities available, operated 10m only

open for 12+ hours. The hoped for propagation opening to Europe on 10m during Sunday did not occur
here at my Oregon QTH.

Had a blast participating in my first ARRL-DX contest. Only had around 9hrs availble to participate
but was able to pick up a lot of rare DX stations and confirm my setup is functional across the
expected bands. Also found out my neighbor is hearing me on his stereo so I'll be examining what I
can do to minimize interference, but worked with him to implement some ferrite chokes for now.

This was my first time working a contest. It was a part-time effort due to
a conflicting work schedule during the contest.
I did not plan on working this contest at first, but decided to join in on
the fun. I had an ABSOLUTE BLAST!
Once I started the contest, I made a goal of making 100 contacts. Unfortuna
tely, I fell just short, at only 78 contacts made by the end of the contest
.
I was not able to make any contacts on 160m-80m, as I couldn't hear any sta
tions from my QTH.
I've never heard SSB DX on 40m before until this contest!
10m-20m did exceptionally well for me.
I worked several new DXCCs and several new countries during this contest.
All bands were worked on a Yaesu FT-710 using a 136 ft. TennTennas 49:1 EFH
W antenna, approximately 20 ft. high, at 100 Watts.
1 or 2 QSOs were actually made on a 15Ah battery, due to a short power outa
ge at my QTH. The rest were all on commercial power at my QTH.
Software: RUMlogNG on MacOS
Unfortunately I did not film any of my QSOs during this contest, but I will
be doing a post-contest self-analysis on my first contest in the coming da
ys on my YouTube channel, hope you'll check it out. youtube.com/@KI5IREhamr
adio
I have already uploaded all QSOs from this contest to LoTW, QRZ, eQSL etc.
Please QSL via LoTW, QRZ or direct Mail.
Stats:
Band | DXCCs | QSOs | Total
160m | 0 | 0 | 0

20m | 30 | 44 | 44
15m | 6 | 6 | 6

Total: 40
Sum: 60 | 78 | 78

Thank you to all the stations out there who worked me. Hope to work you all
again, and more next year!

This contest was the best contest I have participated in. Propagation was great and many stations
participated. I appreciate ARRL's sponsorship of these contests.

I used S&P method throughout the contest and used methods I learned with my club, the Rochester (DX)
Association, to break pileups and snag hard to get entities.

Great contest!!

Wow, what a weekend! Operated about 16 hours due to flu. 10

little excited. I'm sorry if it showed. Better next time.

KN6OKY
Many thanks to everyone that worked with me throughout this weekend. This was a fun contest. This
time I planned on working mostly daytime and on 15 and 20 meters and I got decent results. 10M was
better in comparison to 15 for the number of QSOs. I got good results on 10M and especially via a
Moxon antenna. Early the next morning I got out early and converted over one antenna set up as
vertical from 15M to 40M band and I got a nice low SWR of 1.076 and good bandwidth to work SSB. At
the end of operating, I successfully worked 18 countries and had a great time on SSB. Looking
forward to next year. 73.

rare stations as possible, 3) Learn a lot, and 4) achieve as high a score
as possible given limitations (skill, QTH, Station).
Fun & exciting! So many stations and so many previously unheard (by me).
Many great openings - due no doubt both to DX station quality & propagation
.
My station/QTH worked well for So America and Asia on 10M and 15M - CQ stat
ions almost always answered my first call. I was able to hold a couple of
runs for 20-30 minutes on Saturday.
Station/QTH Performance: Yaesu FTdx101D, Elecraft KPA500, SteppIR Urban Bea
m (2 element Yagi). Northern beam headings limited by hill immediately Nor
th of QTH. In contrast, unobstructed perspective over Pacific Ocean, 1/4 m
ile distant, So East through No West.
Unable to penetrate Northern Europe pileups except for a brief opening on 2
0M mid-day Sunday (unclear whether lower traffic or better opening).
Was able to complete QSOs with Southern Europe & African stations without t
rouble except for rarest locations. Learned a lot about negotiating pile-u
ps to complete QSOs!
Happy to have made 36 "New to me" DXCC contacts. Highlights included:
Africa: Malawi, Madagascar, Namibia, Madeira Islands, Morocco, Cape Verde I
slands
So America: Suriname, Haiti, Peru, Paraguay,
Europe: Finland, Balearic Islands, Corsica, Cyprus
Caribbean: too many to list

Great to hear the world-wide propagation; especially, on ten meters. Fifteen meters was my
workhorse. I limited myself to 100 watts and backyard vertical antennas. TU everyone for the Qs.

Work QRP is Not that easy, Last year make a better score with 20w.
This one with 5W I am getting closeto that scorer.

In 2023 contest QSO'S 735 Mult - 56	Total Score 123,480 with 20w.

In 2024 contest QSO'S 614 Mult - 53	Total Score 97,626 with 20w.

My personal Goal is win the 80m Hight power with QRP.
Last year with 20W bet the high-power score.
My antennas were better and higher This year.
Antennas Delta Loop at 85feet high and 2 full verticals / \.

My 1st DX contest,Had a blast. I had to work around a work schedule. Hit the radio everytime I was
able. Running part time and 100 watts and a end fed dipole I feel good about the contacts I made.

KR1A
Did not try to rotate the 40m vertical, but did demonstrate that it does not work well on 20m.

KR2H
Time was limited by other commitments and several bouts with Murphy,
but still an enjoyable, but low key effort. Conditions were OK, but
the CW weekend was better. Go FRC!

KS7T
The K index dropped to 5 on Sunday and so did the qso total but I
can't complain too much because normally when the K is 5 I can't
hear any DX let alone work it but somehow on 20 mtrs. in A.M. only
coming in were 3 E2 stns and I wrkd them all with 45 w. out/3el.

I had a wonderful time. I usually don't do SSB contests ,yet I was totally engaged in this onw.

KX2T
As some of the most talented contest ops have said " there is no meters like 10 meters" great
conditions for a SSB weekend! Conditions were so good I thought my TH2 grew more elements plus even
the law bands were no that much static till early Sunday just before the end, Great Fun!

LB4CD
Great conds on 10 meter sunday. Did not have too much time
playing around, but very fun anyway!

LC5P
Fun to be able to work NA with only 5W and a vertical.
BIG TU to everyone for pulling me out of the noise!

Overall conditions not as good as CW weekend. But a few good contacts
including RT0F, ZB2BU and TK5MH. Note Aurora flutter Sunday.

N0KIS
For this contest I was experimenting with a non-resonant quad loop
antenna. It is resonant around 16 MHz. I used a 4:1 un-un and auto
tuner at the feedpoint. A 32 foot tall push up mast gets it up in the
air, with string pulling out the side corners. The loop seemed to
have a nice front-to-side ratio on 20m and 15m. It seemed to be
omnidirectional on 10m. Compared to my vertical and low dipole
antenna experiments, the loop was very low noise. I live in a big
city with plenty of noise, so that was a nice result. I was hearing
JA's around 2100 UTC on 10m, and 15m a couple of hours later. That is
unheard of with the verticals and low dipoles at this QTH. Sweet!
But alas, very little of the DX heard me. The 7 contacts I captured
was all I could do with 5 hours in front of the radio.

N0SSZ
I would like to use the Limited Antenna Overlay as I used an OCFD at 45 maximum feet above ground.
I became a General and then an Extra this year. This contest was my first use of HF and my first HF
contacts.

N0YNT
Fun contest - lots of activitty this year!

N1EN
Transmit side on 40m contact with DL1GLH was above 7200. Rig is a Flex
6600M and I couldn't figure out how to operate split while also playing
SO2V. I TX'd on second VFO while RX-ing on first VFO...but logged the
contact on the first VFO's window in N1MM. This entry isn't competitive,
so penalize me if you must...but I'd prefer not to lose the points for
the club score.

N1EZ
Great fun! 10m was terrific. Great opportunity to work on my 10m
DX. Worked abotu 8 hours on this between Sat and Sun afternoons.

N1GLT
Conditions were great for a wire at 45 feet with 100 watts .Had a ball!!!!!!!!!!!!

N1PCZ
This was my first contest ever, also the first time I answered a random CQ. I've done a lot of POTA,
but that seems different to me. A ham friend of mine was telling me about all the QSOs he was
making, and he just got his license, made me want to try. And my antenna partially collapsed but it
still worked. It turns out that let me use the "Limited Antenna" since it was now lower than 50
feet. That's a benefit of procrastination!

N1ROZ
enjoyed the test...interesting band conditions... Had a GREAT time.....

I am glad that ARRL created the Limited Antennas overlay, but it should be revised. I live in an
HOA and I am forced to operate with temporary portable antennas on tripods that I put up only for
the weekend. I haven't been caught yet! Because I operate two small 20m verticals in phase, I am in
the same station category as the big contest stations with multiple 200 foot towers. That does not
seem fair.

N2SLO
I was not going to participate, had many activities over the weekend.
I listened on Saturday, decided I would give it a go for a few hours
Sunday AM. Started at around 6.45am EST, finished around 9.30am Est. I
only wanted a few hours, so decided only on 10M. The band was on fire,
signals from 28.300 up to 28.900. Crazy stuff, signals were strong
from Europe. I used my Yaesu Ftdx3000, Acom 1000 only set at 300 watts
and my Imax 2000 at 35 feet. Most fun in a contest recently. No
stress, casual hunting and working stations. I set 100 QSOs as my
limit, I probably could have worked 500 if I put in more time and
other bands. Great time for 2.5 hours.

N2TO
Thanks to the DX stations who heard and worked my QRP signal.

My first ARRL International DX Phone Contest.

Participation expanded my knowledge of operating in busy bands, improved my knowledge of N3FJP

Hopefully, next year I won't qualify for the Limited Antenna overlay, and I will be able to make a
successful contact on 160m!

Conditions on 10 meters were wonderful. Had a great time except RFI was getting into my rig somehow.
Need to figure that one out. Hope conditions hold for another year.

N3UP
Only able to operate the last 7 hours or so due to being down with Covid ....for the second time.
The bands seemed to be in great form, I was being heard with my wimpy vertical.

N4IW
The bands were in great shape and the contacts were usually
plentiful except for very early in the morning when many of the
stations on were Dupes. This was by far my best contesting
effort to date. The station performed nicely in spite of my
simple wire antennas and low power. I had my usual Sunday
obligations which kept me busy away from the radio, so Saturday I
put in most of my effort. I was stealthily chasing Rick (NN4RB)
all weekend, but he pulled away for good on Sunday. Great job
Rick! It was fun having DX stations actually want to work us!
Kudos to ARRL for creating this contest series.

5 watts to a doublet on an 18' collapsible mast.
I operated between rain storms on Friday night, Saturday morning and evening,
and still managed to get wet. Conditions sounded good. My morning chances to
Europe were rained out. The radar map lied, hi. I had to pack up quickly and skedaddle.
Is QRZ a new country I heard it alot in lieu of a recognizable callsign.
It was fun while things were dry. Thanks for hearing my 5 watts.

N8PEP
A few operators were so intense that they were rude. But, most were nice. It is interesting that
some stations were very strong but could not be heard more than 3 kHz away, while others had
similarly strong signals that could be heard 10 kHz away. In an ideal world, every big gun station
would have transmitter/audio issues worked out before the event. Overall, I had fun and enjoyed the
event, although I had little time available to work it.

N9ARX
Wow, 10M & 15M were workhorse bands this year! Band conditions allowed this 100W station to be
heard amongst all the KW stations. Thanks to the DX stations for listening for the weaker stations
out there. It was appreciated.
73's all,
N9ARX in Nebraska.

N9TF
High bands were in great condition. 15m was open to EU an hour before
local sunrise Saturday and Sunday mornings, and this limited antenna
station was able to work EU on 15m with just a ground mounted 6BTV & LP
before sunrise...that never happens! 10M was elbow to elbow all the way
up to 29Mhz during the peak EU morning hours prop until almost noon local.
99% S&P, although I tried many times to get a run going on 10m and was
always muscled off my "attempted" run freak by a loud EU station, before
I could get established. So I settled on S&Ping. Spent some time in some
pileups to work a station either for that first entity , or to work that
entity for the forth band. This was a for band effort as 80m is set for
the bottom of the CW band and 160 was to noisy to even try with a very
short Inverted L. Main focus was on 10m. Had fun working a bunch of JA
Saturday afternoon evening. Lots of fun again on as we near the solar
Max. 73 Gene N9TF. Rig K3S 100 watts to 6BTV ground mounted.

Fun with a few good catches. Played with some new software

NK8Q
Did surprisingly well considering I was QRP and using an indoor scratch-made antenna! It was fun
using my new IC-705 for the first contest operation since changing my QTH last summer. Thanks to
Scott, KN3A, for encouraging my activity despite the fact that it was not even close to a
contest-ready situation! Run what you've got, as they say. Also, with the sunspot cycle being as
good as it is the choice of 10m only seemed good, at least until the last couple of hours of the
event when there was significant attenuation of signals noted so I quit one hour early after only
making one QSO during the period from 2200 to 2300Z.

NO2D
Hoping I made the log submission deadline.

NO4J
Great fun! HOA restrictions. Wire antenna in trees. Just recovered from a lightning strike about
5 months ago. Radio, Tuner, antenna switch, video card all fried. Great to be back.

NO9E
This was just a test to check an external speech processor (Tentec 715)
in Flex 6600. The results exceeded my expectations. Almost every station I called responded, Nobody
took my frequency. And my peak was 240 QSOs/hr for an hr, versus 150 max before.
Unfortunately, this tells how bad the internal processor in 6600 is.

NS6X
Fun contest. First ARRL DX SSB contest in a few years. During day, tremendous noise on 20, so relied
upon 10 and 15. Need to get an antenna for 40 and 80. Satisfied with score and 100 Qs using 5 watts.
Was able to break a "pile-up" into the Azores, CR2X, on first call - after listening for a bit to
operating style.

I am very happy that I could once again take part in the ARRL SSB Contest 2024 world competition.
This is already the 37th competition in my amateur radio life. This competition is quite difficult
due to the fact that I only work with FT dx 3000 and single dipole antennas hanging in free space at
a height of 45 meters above the ground. I would like to thank all station operators from the USA for
being responsible for me with such a weak signal on the bands and for their patience. See you in the
CQ WPX SSB Contest 2024. Perhaps I will start in the CQ WPX Contest SSB 2024 under my contest sign

today working this Contest.

VE7EMI
First time in this contest, had a great time.

VE7MHI
Why have I not been in this 'test before! So much fun. Out in
car, IC-7300 on the seat, laptop balanced between knee, hand
brake, and shifter, mono-band 1/4 wave whip(s) on the roof.
It _was_ great fun being the focus of contacts for those DX to
us. 73 to All.

FB CONDX, GUD OPS, FUN. BIG PILE UPS.

VJ2J
Still dealing with equipment failures in the interface cabling for PC, amp and all-pass filter
antenna phasing, so very part time for a few minutes bare foot on 10m. Conditions seemed excellent
none the less.

VY2XA
First contest and log attempt.

W0CLA
Really made me realize that contests aren’t just about points, but about geography and people,
something that was not apparent to me before. Thanks to W0BV for the great shack and antenna, and
for the great coaching!

W0DCN
My first contest after 20 years absence. Very enjoyable, especially with good conditions and use of
a logging program - no more paper!

W0DTM
LIMITED ANTENNA

W2OIB
10,15,and 20 were great!

W2STE
Fun for my first participation, but I do wish there were a rookie category (or something similar for
those of us with young kids who cannot participate all weekend.)

W3ETO
Awesome friendly contest. Really learned rig operations

This is addictive. I had to quit for food, time with my XYL and Sunday church but otherwise it was
heads down.

W5GUZ
A great weekend for 10 meters!

W7BJN
First time in this catagory. Had fun!!

W7BTM
This was my very first contest participation and log submission!

Took me multiple tries to get it uploaded because I made errors entering QSO's and because I used
Log4OM to enter QSO's during the contest and had to export then import to N1MM to generate the
Cabrillo file. AND I had data entry errors to find fix such as using "59+" in an RST report. There
are a LOT of details to pay attention to during and after a contest. But I got it sorted out and
loaded just in time with help from Elmers KR7D and KQ7I.

W8GV
What a fun few hours in Florida. 10 and 15 meters were hot!

10 METERS WAS EXCELLENT

W9NY   [photo/doc]
I was first licensed in 1956 at the age of 13 and recently had my 80th birthday. I have always been
active... you can do the math! I was lucky to be licensed and on the air in 1972 and 1973 from Clark
Air Force Base in the Philippines (SK) as DU1GJM. And I have done several mini DX-peditions over the
years as well as being active from St. Kitts and Nevis for quite a few years as V47NS. I have always
enjoyed being and working DX. My home station in my condominium in Chicago and at my vacation home
in the Indiana Dunes have high power with good antennas. I am spoiled.

For the past several years I have wintered in South Beach, Florida, right in the center of all the
action. (Think high noise level). I have an Icom 7300 running 100 watts into an MFJ 10-30 loop
antenna (which sits on my balcony). I have worked quite a bit of DX with that antenna over the last
few years -- and have become expert in tuning it largely based on the volume of signals on the
radio. I thought I would give the ARRL SSB DX contest a try.

I must say that I cannot believe the number of contacts and countries that I was able to work (in
most cases with no difficulty). Can you imagine -- with stiff competition -- working Japan, Hawaii,
Namibia, Turkey, and virtually all over Europe and South America. I was shocked that my little Icom
and not much bigger MFJ loop which sat just inches from the edge of the building, the balcony rail,
and my balcony table and chairs could sling a signal through pile-ups virtually around the world.
Gosh I love ham radio!!!

Photograph enclosed of antenna on 16th floor balcony up about 200 feet with some opening out to the
Atlantic, and the small operating location on my work table. (And with no ground).

Background noise level on 10 and 15 with first preamp on was S4 and on 20 with no preamp S1 --
thanks to the astounding noise reduction by the Icom 7300...

Awesome to see so many friends from around the world again and
meet some new ones! Wide open doesen't even cover it - great
propagation for me on everything but 160 and that's an antenna
(and noise) limitation. Thanks to all who participated and 73,
W9TCV

WA1BR
Lots of fun! Most contacts I've made in a contest.

WA1FCN
Been 3 years since my last all phone DX contest.
I think it will be 3 years before another one. I think
this is my first contest that operated 100 % S&P.

WA1LBK
Excellent conditions!

WA2CNV
Band Conditions were excellent on 80-10m!

WA4JA
IC 7600 AND HF6-V VERTICAL

WA5ZKO
great band openings especially on 10m

WA6KHK
Almost got DXCC on 15 meters with 98 countries! Lot of fun. 10 meters even opened up on Saturday.

WA6URY
Operated remote from Tokyo, Japan

WA7RJ
The most DX I've ever worked in a single weekend - FUN!!

WA8TWM
It is always challenging to get through the pileups on low power but I was able to make contacts by
watching the gray-line and coming back to the station later. After 58 years in amateur radio I don't
care about the score as much as making the contacts. Rag chewing is the best part of the hobby. 73,
Don WA8TWM

When you run QRP, you can expect several repeats of your call,
particularly if it is six characters. It is interesting how signals
can get strong at certain times during the day. Conditions were
moderate on 10 Meters and as expected, they were spread out over the
entire phone band! Signals on 10 Meters started at 28.300 and went as
high as 29.000, a full 700 KHz of activity during several hours!
Rarer DX like V55Y and 3Q7M were above 28.800 to minimize pileup. It
was a slugfest as conditions were good but not optimal, with a lot of
fading on signals.

Perhaps my most unusual contact was when I worked 9Z4CT. Apparently,
there was a lot of fading on my signal, so he asked me to break up my
call - repeating the suffix first (AMU) and then repeating the
prefix (WB2). That was great on his part!

WB3JKQ
GREAT CONDX - V DIPOLES 40, 15, AND 10M - VERTICAL 20M

WB6JJJ
It was snowing here so I had more time to play radio.
Thank you for all of the QSOs...
In the evening, 80 and 160 had high noise levels making contacts difficult.
I could hear a few stations on 160 but they did not respond.

I had limited time for the contest, but successfully used N1MM
voice macros, so I'll be ready for the next one!

WK2G
I rarely get into any SSB contest but this was done for our club.
My Hexbeam is slowly being ripped apart from high winds after one of my
spreaders was clipped by an above tree branch.
but Made a 3 el for 10 meters which really works well on both ssb and CW
The money band for me was definitely 10 m.

The con for me is Having to be on that QRG for a couple of hours and someone asking me to slide up
(What)
Well i don't operate much on SSB so maybe thats the way it is when there really isn't enough band
width for 100 operators.
Also a couple of times for some reason I found that my Freq moved from where i was and quickly
apologized to the other station when he said (This freq in use) before i looked at the screen and
told him i was here for
a couple of hours. (Embarrassed after i found that I was wrong )
he laughed , we both laughed and i apologized again as i went back to my QRG.
Overall it was fun

WM7C
1/4 wave vertical 100 watts

WQ6X
This was a 1st-time QRP run for WQ6X of the ARRL DX Ssb contest from WA6TQT
in Anza. While there was access to all the antennas, the phasing cable on 160
Tri-Square prevented making any contacts on 160. The 15m/10m rotatable tower
was jam-stuck at ~65-degrees, relegating a lot of SA/JA Qsos to be made using
the "inferior" KT-36 yagi.
I should have taken better advantage of 40-meters Friday night because at 08:00z
Sunday morning some sort of solar disturbance knocked the band out so completely
that I thought the yagi-array had crashed or the K3 front-end had died on 40m
(80m & 20m were quite active). It was so bad that NONE of the (40-over S-9)
broadcast stations could be heard in Anza. By Sunday morning, it was back
to being a typical morning on 40-meters.

My biggest beef in BOTH Ssb & Cw DX contests is that operators need to STFD.
Slow DOWN. Weird accents, polar flutter and junky Space-Wx effects can
chop intelligibility out of hasty voices and 35+ WPM Cw. The time you save by
running things at a faster clip is wasted when your repeat-rate goes up, or
nobody calls in because we can't understand you. This weekend I re-recorded
the WQ6X ID memory (FKEY-4)saying my call S-L-O-W-L-Y. Doing that reduced
the number of callsign repeats by about 80%.

Other than a couple of JA runs, this weekend was mostly a Search&Pounce affair.
My biggest frustration is when OP's had MOST of my callsign "WQ6" or "Q6X"
and then go work someone else. When I run a frequency, I never answer
a station other than the one I am attempting to decipher.

Overall, this DX Contest GiG was certainly quite a CHALLENGE.

Limited Antennas Overlay wasn't part of the Cabrillo v3 spec for CATEGORY-OVERLAY header field. I
hope this works...

Single Band (15m), Low Power, Limited Antenna Overlay
15 meters Single Band is the best choice for a "not so young" contester as myself. The band opens
and closes to Paraguay as if it run on a schedule, therefore, plenty of time to be with the family
and rest.
