COPIED FROM YOUR CONFIRMATION:

Just a comment - 223 x3 =669, not 666, so score is 60,879...

Effort consisted of few hours Friday night and some on Saturday
with no operation on Sunday at all. 10m was fantastic! Glad to
see the cycle on the upswing. How much better can 10m get We
will see as the cycle progresses. Thanks for all of the QSOs.

Although my hopes of (finally) using a beam in a contest temporarily were dashed by a windstorm, my
80-something foot wire, a very quiet WV mountaintop cabin location, my IC-7300 (that turned out to
be great at digging signals out of the QRM), and potent bands more than made up for my
disappointment. You know that the bands are back when you can hit Australia with 100W SSB and a wire
at 3AM on 20M. Got around 60 DXCC entities with just 100 watts . . . fun time! May even have to stop
logging QSOs with a pen and paper (although I finally uploaded them to a database to submit here -
it was like an IRS audit where they found an error in my favor, as the ARRL bot found additional
multipliers). 73s, John

Well that was brutal! 12 hours 20 minutes total operating time.
Propagation was relatively good. Lots of strong signals, but some
brutal pile ups. Amazing how much difference a good operator can
make at the incoming side of the pile up.

First time using the FT991A in a contest. By far not the ideal radio for this, but it worked ok. A
second VFO would be very useful for hunting multipliers. The loop dipole worked better than I
expected although with only 100W a Yagi would make a difference. The Heil mic was not performing ok
(got reports saying audio was too bass and stuffy - I must fine tune the audio settings) so I had to
switch to the hand mic :(
Propagation on 10m band was good, I enjoyed seeing all that activity in a usually silent band. I
will be back next year with better conditions I hope! 73

Lots of people didn't want to believe I was QRP but really guys, it was just an
IC-705 on battery power! The heavy lifting was done by the antenna, of course.
QRP means low power, not compromise antennas. ;-) Obviously good enough to
generate some small runs, too, at least after being spotted on the cluster.
Thanks for the QSOs and see you in the next one!

Hello everyone.
I did the contest from my mobile on a mountain, only with 90 watts and a 10 meter antenna.
It's hard to break pile-ups in these conditions or get a frequency and not have it "taken" away.
But the truth is that the landscape is idyllic and I had a lot of fun participating in the contest.

GM3PPG
Always enjoy this contest and 2023 was no exception
despite the poor conditions especially to the more
northerly and westerly parts of USA and Canada from
this latitude (57.6 deg N.). Used same 6 el vertical
array by the Atlantic Ocean as in previous years.
Missed OK, VO2, VE4, VE5, and VE7 and the northerly Canadian provinces. Great to get several VE6's.
Lucky to get OR and WA and MT on Sunday morning 30 mins before my sunrise as thought
band had closed for me. Never give up and keep going is the moral!
Will be interesting to compare results with an Italian station with
the alternative way of getting a gain antenna on 80m (very high 4 el horizontal wire yagi).
He is further away of course, but also further south. The latter helps with
the more northery and westerly paths.
Thanks for the qsos and see you next year hopefully. Sad that VY2ZM station no longer there.

Yes I really was using 5 watts, conditions on 10m better here on Saturday than Sunday so nice to see
all bands open. I even managed a couple on 40m even though it was wall to wall. Most audio was fine
but still the occasional over processed over modulated station who would shout down the mike, they
will never learn .

Snce I am part of a modest DXpedition, I had over 200 DX stations
call me who wanted to work HC8, perhaps for ATNO. I logged all of
them. Sometime Ientered DX as the exchange, sometimes they gave
power and I logged it. I assume there is no penalty for these
zero pont QSOs. I was trying to give out HC8 to as many as I
could while operatded in the contest. If there is an issue with
this, please notify me. I could remove them from the log or mark
them as in active if needed. Thanks KE2D

My 100 watts and my antennas (only monoband dipoles) are certainly not
ideal to be able to compete in a contest like the ARRL SSB.
However, I had a lot of fun in the few hours I was able to dedicate to
the contest due to the usual Sunday family commitments which naturally
take precedence.
We'll see if next year I can have better equipment.
Congratulations for the contest.

Arranged to participate "on the fly" so didn't have enough time
for setup preparation for this ARRL dx SSB.
Had issues with the dvk, self feedbacks, levels, and radio

at least ... apologizes.
Overall it was fun, especially the surprising opening on 20m the
last 2 hours.
Happy to see 10m in good shape.
As usual bad spots like IL2Q produced long strings of dupes, all in the log btw.

brought away signals, stepped back to 15. I would have never bet on working WA, OR, TX and NE on low

After almost 3 years in repair work, my 36-m SKY-NEEDLE stretchable
tower, derived from Frank, W6KPC, is now fully reharbished and put in
position again. Lucky enough to say hello to my old friends.
TNX for the QSO's, and ARRL DX SSB brought me a lot of fun!!
One thing I worried about: Some operators send their call only once,
even if I requested them to repeat. SSB is different from digital
QSO using your computer. It has to be noted.

Another first experience from the United States: This time an ARRL being part of
North America, and not on the DX side.
I had the opportunity to be part several M/S, M/2 teams and even have been part
of the M/M in HK1NA that still holds the record in that category. I also had a
chance to win SOAB Unlimited from ZW5B in 2021, but I still had to participate
on this side of the continent.
I really found myself with a very challenging experience, very entertaining and
totally different from being on the other side, and even making unintentional
mistakes worthy of a beginner from which I have learned and there is no place
for them to be repeated.

This adventure started when we arrived here in Maine two weeks before ARRL DX CW
with Krassy and Velimir to set up the station for the M/M category.
Krassy offered me to try a SOAB in the SSB version which, of course, I
accepted.
As already stated in the writings of the previous contests, Velimir stayed with
me for a couple of days after the contest to set everything up for SOAB with 2
radios and then I stayed alone here to test and improve some things.
Between the two ARRLs was the CQ160, so of course I also decided to participate
to try to get to know a band that was totally unknown to me.
Despite the horrible weather in the week leading up to SSB version, I was able
to improve some of the Beverages that were not performing well. It wasn't easy
walking through the forest with knee deep snow, but honestly I enjoyed it and it
was a lot of fun.
In the previous days I tried to test everything, even calling DX on two bands,
even to soften up a bit for more than 40 hours of operation that I had ahead of
me.
We all know that before the contest everything seems to be in order, and even
some small things can go wrong and are easily fixed, but when the competition
starts, everything seems to be different.
The macros worked horribly, I had almost a second delay between pressing the F
keys until the message was played. Even every few minutes, one of the radios
would stay on transmit and the only way I knew it was to look at the red light,
then I had to manually press the ??transmit? button on the IC7800 to get it
to release PTT.
This drove me crazy, made me very nervous, and made me quite frustrated. I
tried resetting everything and booting again, but the problem kept coming back.
I understood that this was going to happen throughout the contest, so I had to
accept it as part of the challenge and stop complaining or getting frustrated
because I was not going to achieve anything at all, even so I could never
completely let go and calm down.
I only used the F1 to call, and nothing else, but still with that ??freeze??
PTT issue time after time. The rest was all vocal, and to top it off, I started
shouting not realizing it until I turned on the monitor at one of the few times
I used a single radio on the second day.
The first 30 hours of the contest I didn't get up from my chair at any time, I
drank very little coffee and ate absolutely nothing from Friday at noon until
Sunday night once the contest was over.

I devoted myself to trying to be everywhere, always calling in two bands or
calling in one band and going through others with the second radio.
I pretty much followed the footsteps of Uncle Jeff K1ZM who kindly sent me his
2014 VY2ZM log when he set the NA record. He actually promised me a bottle of
Jaggermeister if I beat his record, so I had to work hard for it! That's how I
decided to use the same way, just the radios. No assistance, no self-spot.
At the end of the first night and seeing the few QSOs and multipliers I had at
160M and 80M, I knew that it was going to be almost impossible to achieve. If
the low band propagation didn't help, I wasn't going to be able to get my
Jägermeister and finally it wasn't possible to make it.

On Saturday morning, 10M opened very early and it was a party but not on Sunday,
where it took a long time to open and I think I wasted a lot of time calling
without success.
15M was good for Europe but not for the rest of the world from these latitudes,
enough to say that I was able to work the first JA four minutes before the end
of the contest!
Only on Sunday I was finally able to work Asia on 40M long path and manage to
add several multipliers.
The last two hours I decided to give up a number of QSOs to go out sweeping
bands and hunting fairly simple multipliers, mainly from the Caribbean and
Central America, which would at least help me to reach the barrier of 6 million
points.

A couple of highlights that come to mind:
 - M0PLX/M has worked me in 6 bands! Congratulations for that mobile station!
 - A50A responding to my CQ in 10M and taking it to other bands, although
without success. Thanks for the attempt!
 - To have been the first in 6 bands for HB0A who let me know it on the air.
 - Working British QRP (5W) stations on 40M at 3:30pm local time on Sunday.

Thanks to everyone who accepted QSY to other bands!

Thanks again to Krassy for trusting me once again, for letting me learn a little
more every day.
It has been a fantastic 3 consecutive weekends for K1LZ.

I absolutely had a blast working this contest. This is the first time that I have ever submitted a
contest log. I'm looking forward to the next contest. I used my new Yaesu ft710 into 160m dipole,
80m dipole, and R7 Vertical.

K2GMY   [photo/doc]
During the contest, on Saturday, I assisted in a developing life and death emergency involving
several other hams. A man and his wife were trapped in their home in San Bernadino, California when
the roof collapsed, leaving them seriously injured and separated in different areas of their home.
They were able to send a weak signal from a battery-powered radio on 10 meters asking for medical
assistance. I could not hear their signal, but could hear another ham struggling to hear them under
the crushing pileup on our frequency. I was running four watts in the QRP category, and had just
worked MW0ZZK in Wales, but cranked up the power to clear the frequency of the QRM so that another
ham and the victim with the weak signal could maintain contact. I do know that emergency personnel
were attempting to reach the victims, but do not know the result. If anyone else can provide
additional information, please contact ARRL and me at k2gmy@arrl.net. This is another example of the
value of Amateur Radio being there when needed. I especially appreciate how quickly MW0ZZK and the
others moved off frequency when I told him of the emergency.

K3CCR
K3CCR is the club station at the Collington continuing-care
retirement community at FM 18OW in MD, just east of DC. N3UM and
W5MPB did Multi-2 in 2023 ARRL DX SSB. We hoped to beat the 907
Qs and 66.7 K M-2 score N3UM and W3GB got in 2021 ARRL SSB. Wow;
we got 1.25 X the Qs and 1.4 X the mults for 1.75 X the score.
We got 233 fewer Qs and 26 fewer mults on 160-20 M, but 459 more
Qs and 124 more mults on 15 and 10 M! SFI of 170-180 helped. We
ran for just 129 Qs, all on 20 M 19-23Z. Spot and tune gave good
rates. Bad start; a computer crashed at 0Z. No Qs till 0011Z to
restart and fix config errors. N3UM got 33 40-M Qs 0011-0121Z,
18 15-M Qs 0132-0202Z, and 16 40-M Qs 0207-0245Z. A break, then
15 80-M Qs 0302-0346Z, and QRT to return early. W5MPB got 62 Qs
on 20 M 0011-0159Z, then a break and 11 80-M Qs in 10 min, 0211-
0221Z. Back on 20 M 0223-0242Z he got 8 Qs, then 4 Qs in 4 min.
on 15 M and 5 on 20 M by 0313Z. He got 24 Qs on 40 M 0317 to
0441Z QRT. Back at 1239Z, N3UM got 65 15-M Qs by 1334Z, then 131
10-M Qs at 76/hr 1339-1538Z, and quit to eat. W5MPB checked at
1410Z and found few sigs on 20 M. But after N3UM was done with
the C3 used on 10 & 15 M, W5MPB got 32 15-M Qs 1546-1653Z and
quit to eat. He then got 16 more 15-M Qs 1752-1819Z, 32 20-M Qs
1834-1943Z, and 63 15-M Qs 1946-2259Z. N3UM got 49 10-M Qs 1830-
1939Z, then 88 20-M Qs 1949-2207Z, 43 in 2 runs at 66/hr, and
quit to eat. After 23Z W5MPB hopped bands for 10 40-M Qs, 24
20-M Qs, & 21 15-M Qs, then quit at 0236Z to return early. After
0021Z N3UM hopped for 17 40-M Qs, 38 80-M Qs, & 6 160-M Qs by
0455Z QRT. Back 1208-1647Z W5MPB got 81 15-M Qs and broke to
eat. N3UM 1527-1627 got 9 20-M Qs and 39 10-M Qs and broke to
eat. W5MPB 1754-2253 got 49 15-M Qs, then 4 40-M Qs by 2339Z.
N3UM 1854-2329Z got 137 20-M Qs, 89 in 3 runs at 34 to 62/hr. At
2330, a computer crash; we let this be A Sign Unto Us, and quit.

K5HIP
This is my first contest ever and I think it would be nice to have a "single wire" category because
because all I have is a single buckmaster OCF hung from a tree and it is very hard to compete with
stations that own a tower (even if theya re only running 100w). All the best, K5HIP

K5RX
Conditions were fantastic on 20, 15 and 10 m. Only had the 160
inverted L until I got an 80 meter Zepp working Saturday evening.
It is in inverted V configuration with the apex at about 90' and
the ends at 50 - 60'. It does not seem to have the pronounced
nulls in its pattern compared to when it was at 180' and
horizontal at the old QTH. However, some directions were clearly
favored. E.g., one of my few CQs attracted calls from 9N7AA and
RA9V (southern Zone 18) on 15 m. Only about 14 1/2 hours of operation
due to time spent doing antenna work.

Really great band conditions especially on 10m. It felt like I was running a 500-watt amp, yet only
ran 100 watts with a dipole at 35'. Worked some great dx into Europe, Africa, South America, the
Caribbean, Asia, South Pacific.

Surprised on big openings on 10 mtrs. 20 mtrs is normally my

Missed my normal 20 mtr sunrise opening to EU. Almost no signals.
Couldn't even hear the big guns on the East Coast calling CQ.

WHAT A GREAT WEEKEND FOR DX

K7LFO
My first try

K8GL
What a great weekend! It was nice to be greeted by friends around the world. Conditions were good
and everyone was spread out between the three upper bands.
My only annoyance is the large number of USA stations who want to work me. This unnecessarily
delays me and has resulted in the DX stations calling beneath them to not wait while I explain that
this is a "DX only" contest.

K8LF
While SSB contests are not my favorite I enjoyed the good
conditions. Lots of time away from the shack so only a few
hours BIC time.

I decided to try my luck in this contest after Mike, W8ZY,
mentioned that he was going to try to make some contacts over the
weekend. I was amazed how 10m and 15m were packed with operators.
I was equally surprised how may stations could easily hear me
with my 100 watts and relatively low-to-the-ground wire antenna.
In all my years on HF, I have never made so many contacts in a
48-hour period. I'm sure I made some mistakes in the log, but I
have never had such a successful outing.

KT3V
The first 10 contacts are "stuck" at 28.536MHz due to a polling error between the logger and the
Flex 6600M. I did not discover this until switching bands to 15m. At that time the Flex GUI failed
and I had to reboot the Flex and the PC to resume the contest. I believe the times, callsigns, and
exchanges are correct during this early stage.

I've been a licensed amateur since 1959 and have never seen the 10m band so crazy. Signal density
was EXTREME.

Certainly not the condx from two weeks prior (ARRL DX CW) ... we
had high hopes of 10M possibly but the low bands especially
didn't cooperate due to solar condx ... stuff happens
said, again we ate well (Dano's lasagne .. yum, XLY's squash
soup), slept some, enjoyed some fermented grape juice and lots of
very bad jokes ... Murphy was visiting elsewhere thank heavens
and other than me fabricating bad audio reports (my IC7000 used
as a monitor rx was simply producing some bad rx audio ..
separate issue) we didn't have much unplanned downtime
we had 2 remote operators K2XR and WA3AAN helping plow the new
ground of remote Ops at the station ... still have latency issues
to deal with and SSB is a bit more difficult as we have 2 way
audio requirements vs. CW still a WIP but we are always learning
.. Thanks XR!
for the use of the venerable N2AA callsign, we appreciate it.

make this happen!

Used my KX3 with N1MM Logger. Since I couldn't figure out how to use the N1MM audio, I ended up
programming the KX3 message keys for audio call and exchange - and - what a surprise - it worked!
My antenna was a loop of wire around my 2nd floor balcony. This was an experiment to see if I could
actually make this work and it was lots of fun. 73 -- Don

It was a lot of fun to be in this contest since most countries can only work W/VE, everyone had
their antennas pointed at us and listened intently for my call and report. This was a great contest
for making phone contacts with people all around the world. It was a lot of fun and exhausting at
the same time. This is the type of contest where I really have to learn how to use and configure
everything very well for noise filtering, sensitivity, etc. I love contests like this. During the
contest I was getting out the book to remind myself how to modify certain settings, record audio,
etc. The Heil Pro 7 and the IC-7610 were great and my 43 ft Vertical DX Engineering antenna really
did well. The attic antenna proved to be too close to the ground for phone DX.. it picked up way
too much noise while the vertical in the backyard was quiet.

QRP, NON-Assisted, "Full 5 Watts" to a 20 Foot end-fed wire,
thrown into a tree out my window - my only station antenna.
Lots going on this weekend, so, for a short, part-time effort,
I decided to see what I could do single-band on 10 meters,
which turned out to be a good choice. I popped into the shack
whenever I could, and 10 meters was really fun, although it
seemed that conditions were much better during ARRL CW.
I only managed to log one EU station and no African stations.
I still much prefer the ARRL CW Contest, but this was a lot of
fun, and I will try to find more time for this next year.
Thanks to all for the QSOs and fun bursts of 10 meter activity.

Bad wind storm Friday afternoon knocked power out for 32 hours.
Very bummed I wa not able to participate until Sunday 18:00UTC.
By then too late for any MOJO so just chased mults across bands
when I had time. 60 plus MPH winds for 3 sloid hours Friday
afternoon took down tress and power lines all over Clarksville.

Family kept me from starting until Saturday morning, but wow all
day Saturday was amazing! Although I failed to get any runs
going, the S&P was all POUNCE! The spots window was full of
multipliers and propagationfavored me, working most mults with
one or two calls.20 was a blast, open everywhere even in the
early morning Sunday. Europe and Asia were side by side on the
band. Things tapered off around 0200 local Sunday and I grabbed a
couple hours sleep. 0400 local saw me back in the shack.
Conditions were completely different by that time, with many NA
stations running instead of DX.Q's were much slower and mults
were far and few.Sunday afternoon there was a lull and I put in
for a short nap.Instead of an hour I slept for almost 4 hours-
whoops.Getting back on I found stateside ops had turned into
piranhas swarming around the DX. My goal of 750k faded and became
600k which I made comfortably. Overall I was pleased with the
results of last year's antenna work. The upper bands were
terrific, but the lower bands were poor.Next year's bands will be
even better!

First and foremost, I would like to extend a huge thank you to Felipe for making this happen. Had
Felipe not been gracious enough to host us, we would not be here today :)

As is typical with our remote operations, this was a last minute operation. Connor invited me to
operate mere days before the contest. After a minute of talking it through, we decided we wanted to
do a serious effort. This meant we needed more ops than just us two. I immediately recommended Sven,
DJ4MX and Connor confirmed. We also asked Brennan, K6BFL and he was excited for the opportunity and
replied with an enthusiastic yes.

We had taken care of the operator situation, now to work out the logistics. Felipe was a wonderful
host and was very helpful in making sure we all had a seamless remote experience. On the Thursday
before the contest, we all got on and did a little bit of testing to make sure everything was
working. Even from Europe, Sven's connection to the radio was very robust, which helped a lot. This
was important in the end, as it turned out that Sven would be our anchor man. I think Sven did more
hours than any of us. That's a good thing, though, as he is a killer op.

As with every contest, there are issues. This time, there were very few. The only real issue was
with the changing of operators. When someone is operating and someone else connects, there is about
700ms of latency introduced. This can only be solved by disconnecting and reconnecting. We have to
get that figured out before we do this again.

I think this was both Sven and Brennan's first contest from the Caribbean, and to say they were
impressed is an understatement. Both Connor and I have done contests from the Caribbean before, but
we collectively agree that it is always just as amazing as the first time.

On behalf of the NP4Z team,

Bray KC1KUG/KP4

This was a single operator QRP operation from NJ, only on 80

envisioned it being very difficult to make any 80 meter SSB DX
contacts at this time on QRP. I was pleased to see a good level
of activity on 80 during this contest. My thanks to the DX
stations who worked hard to pull me out of the noise, and my
thanks to the United States and Canada stations who waited
patiently as I tried repeatedly to get my callsign to a DX
station.

When I checked into Las Vegas hotel 10 p.m. on Saturday night for
my business trip, I was fortunate enough to be assigned a room
with a big NNW window on the 24th floor. On Sunday morning, I
made a loop antenna for 10m and attached it to the window glass.
I heard SAs, Caribbeans and EUs. With the 50W of IC-7300M and the
QTH solely open to JA, I could work only some JAs with good ears.
It was a fun weekend.

W7MTH   [photo/doc]
Got dx on 80 and 40 for first time in this contest. Worked Europe for the first time.

W7XZ
Great conditions on 10 and 15M. Setup was IC-7610 to wire antenna configured as 2 element 80M
Bobtail Broadside, through MFJ-998RT tuner connected to one end of wire and metal water pipe ground;
worked well on all five bands used, but wire was too close to electrical half wave on 160M for tuner
to match (with vertical wire on far end removed, it is an excellent Inverted-L for Top Band and the
tuner likes it). Presently using wire as Bobtail in hopes of getting seven more entities on 80M to
complete 5BDXCC.

W/VE ops just saying their phoneticized two letter state/province code, it seems to me, is far less
confusing to the DX operator than saying the name (often repeated several times before understood on
the far end).

Cycle 25 is my seventh solar cycle--first licensed in November 1954 (age 13) as Novice (KN6ILB),
Conditional (K6ILB) in late 1955. Cycle 19 began in April 1954.

I really appreciate the fact that the ARRL has added more categories
last year with single band/power level entries. This allowed me to
try running QRP with a simple dipole on 10 Meter SSB this year. I
expected this to be a challenge and I had to run search and pounce for
the strongest signals in most cases. Initially early in the morning,
some DX stations could not make me out and said try again later. I
appreciate the DX stations that had the patience to pull out my QRP
signal, even if it took a number of repeats of my call. It is
interesting how signals can get strong at certain times during the
day. Mid-morning was good for UK and France and again later in the
mid-afternoon. Signals on 10 Meters started at 28.300 and went as
high as 28.975, a full 675 KHz of activity during the busy time! I
fully expected not to be able to get Alaska, Australia, Hawaii, and
Japan, even though I could hear them. I was still able to get 56
multipliers all told. Cycle 25 looks very promising if nothing
strange happens over the next three years!

A fun weekend with mostly great band conditions. 100 watts and a wire still worked.

I had fun. I got Italy on 80 M ssb - which was a nice accomplishment.
Hopefully I will participate again here next year & spent more time
participating. Thanks for the good contest here.

I couldnt believe the activity on 10 spread from 28.3 to 29.0!

My beam broke on a storm just before the test, so I operated single band on 10M with my 80-40-30
Inverted V. Quite an experience!

What a fun activity!! 10 meters was booming, the world was
calling, and the log was filling! Too much fun for a grown man!

This was another ad-HOC dual-OP ARRL Dx contest from the EB Section.
I was considering running QRP for this GiG, but being an Ssb operation
I decided against it.
Overall band conditions were AWEsome, altho there was a lot of leftover
QRN after the solar hit that happened before the contest. Due to an
internet problem at NX6T Saturday morning, I had time to run 40-m as WQ6X.
NoT surprising, 10-meters was THE band this weekend.
LooK for a write-UP on this GiG at: http://WQ6X.Blogspot.com.

Band conditions appeared to be very poor on both up
until around 18:30-19:00 utc which made the contest .
very challenging.
