I had a great time, but also really need to work on my copying! Hope to enter more contest soon.

This contest represented my #3-7 CW QSOs ever. Got my Tech in June-22 and Extra in August-22. CW was
the next goal with a QSO by Christmas. This contest was my carrot to keep studying and practicing
every day. The biggest challenge I had was copy as is for most new CW operators. This contest
really helped with my confidence level. Every CW operator on the other side was patient and kind. I
am thankful that organizations such as the ARRL consider all levels of Amateur Radio operators. This
was the perfect event to push me to the next level.

What a fun day. My first ever CW contact was the first week of November 2022 and I copy about 10-12
WPM now. Started with a lot of nervousness and lack of knowledge on how to operate in contest mode.
First hour or two tried to get a QSO from someone calling CQ. That didn't work at all. I would be
just finishing my call and they would already be exchanging info lol Started calling CQ but not
indicating I was contesting. Got a few nice QSOs from hams just surfing not contesting. Then I heard
someone Calling CQRR CQRR. When I started Calling CQ RR with my call I got hams just throwing out
their call and answered and sent my info the short way it should have been. I didn't get a lot of
QSO but considering my rookie status and lack of CW experience I am fine with that. I am glad this
was done for us rookies.
