I was very excited to make contacts across Lake Superior and Lake Michigan on 47GHz and my first 1Km
contact on 76GHz

Just moved to 4 land this summer. I've been spoiled with all the activity when I lived in WI. I'm
hoping to get more people on the band(s) down here so we can become competitive with the Northern
Lights Radio Society guys!

Great action the first weekend and very slow the second weekend of the contest. Seems I was idle for
to many hours. Thanks for all the Q's and tries.

Thanks to VA3ELE for offering the loan of his portable 10GHz gear to allow me to jump in the game
for the first weekend.

Fantastic experience for my first ever 10GHz contest!
Thanks to Peter VA3ELE for taking me along in August and showing me how to manage portable
operations. Saturday across the north shore of Lake Erie, Sunday north shore of Lake Ontario.
I was unable to join him and VA3TO for the September weekend but did manage to log additional 26
contacts for the second weekend. One of the big take-away from this was how to plan locations that
do not conflict with the first weekend locations. Would not have been an issue if I was with VA3ELE
and VA3TO, but I had to stay close to home. Sunday morning, I selected a couple locations that may
have usable but was completely rained out.
Thanks to all that added me to their logs! Looking forward to more 10GHz activity.

Operated only one weekend due to a mild case of Covid. BUT was out second weekend and had fun with
K3WHC and K1RZ.

Tried FM08jl AKA Reddish Knob on the VA/WVA line next to the 'radio quiet zone'. at 4101' ASL. Has
good views toward NY, New England, Canada, at least the maps say that. But was a bust...could not
even work the usual 300-500km hams much less real DX. Likely a ducting issue. C'est la vie....

However, FN00rg, Blue Knob in Central PA was good as usual. Bounced 10G off the ski lifts as in
prior years. Worked the usual spots at 500-700km w/o RS.

IMO, best ARRL contest. We could triple participation and still have no QRM. Maybe we need a
scoring bonus for anyone who brings brings a new participant?

This was my very first 10 GHz contest. It was a lot of fun and significantly different than other
VHF/UHF contests that I have participated in the past. I would like to thank everybody for
encouraging me and supporting me in the efforts to get on the 10 gig band.

The 2022 Contest was a blast! Activity and DX is limited in this area so the addition of 2 more
rovers KM5PO and KI5EMN plus fixed station WB5ZDP made for a nice increase in the score this year.
Almost double our score from last year. We spent the first weekend dodging thunderstorms and heavy
rain cells but managed to find spots between thunderstorms and reaped the benefits of the resulting
rain scatter. Unusual for August in Texas! Due to the heat we had been experiencing I even had
bought a nice umbrella to afford some shade but it served well in the rain also! We had no luck on
24 GHZ the first weekend since most of our sites put us out of range or the conditions were just not
there.
The 2nd weekend was unusually hot for September with temperatures reaching 97°F and the winds were
to high for the umbrella. Conditions were good and we managed to work almost all the other stations
from all the locations activated. The final Sunday I activated several locations in 24 GHz range to
finish with 10 QSOs and 3 Unique calls on that band and a best DX of 83 KM to W5LUA. The 24 GHz
highlight was adding AA5AM to the log with 4 QSOs and a new grid for Scott.
The DX highlight for me was working Ron K5LLL EM10kf on 10 GHz for a best DX of 350 KM!
