Enjoyed the contest! Thanks for having it!

So close! 81 sections using QRP! Even an NT (a first)! Exceeded expectations, better than any other
year since getting back on the air in 2020! *THANKS* for everyone's good ears and antennas copying
my 5-watt sig from New Jersey! Bummed to miss KH6, which I can usually work in pre-dawn hours on
40m, but I had local nasty spark-gap QRM that persisted, so I shut down for the night. Bummed to
miss LAX; thought I worked one, but it did not get into log ... late-in-contest delirium! Bummed to
miss NNY ... NNY??? Last one I got was (drum roll) ..... DE!! Rig: Rig-in-box Hermes Lite 2 with
Raspberry Pi 4, at base of 1/4-wave "maple tree" fan vertical with 32 radials, using Quisk s/w
transceiver with network remote control to rig-in-box.

Please read the comments (or X-COMMENTS) below. Missed ONN
for Clean Sweep, Quite annoying, especially since I got a lot
Dakotas, AK, etc) early on in the contest.

It's always a good omen when you've worked not one but two NT stations before the end of the third

A light to moderate QRP non-assisted effort of only 11 hours at the seat, much of it tuning and
calling, sometimes for a long while. Nothing like a complicated exchange at speeds exceeding 30 WPM
to keep you alert, however. Missed a clean sweep by about 11 sections, including, unfortunately
one state, RI. Some sections were never heard, and others, like LAX and EWA, only appeared at the
end of the contest. Not using spotting networks, I did learn that a good panadapter showing you
multiple stations calling someone is a good clue something rare is there.

K2TV
Got in for a while to give some points out.

K3CCR
K3CCR is the club station at the Collington continuing-care
retirement community at FM 18OW in MD, just east of DC. For 2022
SS CW, I (N3UM) was the only CW op here; I did SOHP U. My goal
was to beat my 705 Qs and and 115.6 K claimed doing SOHP U in
2021 SS CW. I came close; claimed 0.93 X the Qs and 0.95 X the
score in 0.94 X the BIC hrs. And, I got a sweep, vs 82 sects in
2021. I was relieved to do OK despite a major-event non ham-
radio distraction and senior-citizen need for enough sleep and
real meals. From 2101Z I ran at 51/hr for 142 Qs and 58 mults on
20 M by 2347Z. I then ran at 43/hr for 130 Qs and 7 mults on 40
M by 0255Z. I got 40 Qs and 4 mults running on 80 M, 52/hr 0300Z
to QRT at 0347Z with 312 Qs. Had 75 more Qs in 2021 at 0431 QRT.
Sun. AM 1330-1452Z I got 90 Qs on 40 M, 83 of them in a run at
67/hr, then 38 Qs on 20 M 1458-1614Z, 17 running, for a total
128 Qs at 1614Z QRT for lunch. (In 2021 SS CW I got only 107 Qs
1310-1616Z; I tried but could not run on 40 or 20 M.) Back on at
1811Z, 20 M was slow. I clicked spots for 47 Qs in 1.4 hrs; no
runs, no mults. Semi-desperate, I tried 15 M. Wow; red spots for
rare mults, with good sigs. I got PAC at 1942Z, VT at 1956, AK
at 1959, and NT at 2009Z for 83 mults, all but WY! On 20 and
then 40 M 2034-2137Z I got 43 Qs but none in WY, so I broke to
eat. After supper 2323-0115Z I got 68 Qs on 40 M, WY at 0105Z
for the sweep. Then, 32 last Qs on 80 M, 24 in a run at 75/hr.

Limited to use mobile whip antennas. rig: IC7300.
I made a mistake and sent the wrong precedence throughout the contest.
Sorry. I used spotting networks, but I sent prec "A". Sorry about that.
It's just a habit retained from years past (before spotting existed!).
I am entering the SO unlimited category, as I should. Maybe next year I'll
choose the right letter!

My neighbor was kind enough to again let me stretch a multi-band
dipole from a short palm tree behind my pool cage across his back
yard to a tree on an empty lot for the weekend. That makes about
4 times in 15 years here that I had an almost "decent" antenna up
for a contest! Lol! Rained here and conditions were not great,
but not really bad. 160 was dead. I'll be glad when I move out of
this gated community and get a chance to put up some real
antennas again.

Bands were in good shape, signals were strong - on 10, 15 and 80 in particular.
I had worked all the sections except for NL when I went to bed on Saturday.
Got back on mid-morning Sunday, saw VO1HP spotted and worked him through a
pile up. LAX and QC were the last two I found on Saturday. I saw NI6W
spotted on Sunday, in LAX, tuned in, my what a pileup on him.

Thanks for the QSOs.

The ARRL Sweepstakes Records show "no entry" for SO Unlimited QRP for US Call Area 1.
I can fix that!

Power outage all day Saturday delayed my fun, but Sunday I got enough chores done to
get on for the last hour and make a pass up 10m and 15m. People happy to get a QSO.

I decided to operate SOLP this year in memory of our good friend and contester Paul WN6K. He was
*always* SOLP in SS and often won the SDG section, sometimes SW Div. And he was very much a BIS guy
for however many hours the contest ran.

I'm not THAT dedicated, but I did make a Clean Sweep, my first in a while.
I agree with Dick W6TK that a Clean Sweep Unassisted is more of a challenge than Assisted.

I went to bed Sat. night (after *finally* finding an LAX station - WA6URY) needing 3 sections: VE2,
VO1 or VO2, and VY1 et al. I wasn't terribly optimistic. But VE2EZD called me early Sunday
morning. Then I found VO1HP on 10m (of all places) and VY1CO on 15m. The Sweep was done by 1730Z
(9:30 a.m. local)! Much to my wife's chagrin, I will buy yet another Clean Sweep coffee cup. :-)

I had some really good runs on 40 on Sat. evening. I apparently got spotted a few times on at least
a couple of bands, and I was amazed at the instant pileup
- didn't last long, but it was fun! Condx overall were great, and it was SO nice to have a lot of
activity on 10m!!

Station: K3; 4-el SteppIR, 40-2CD, 80m inv vee - all at 60 feet.

Tnx QSOs, and 73 to all de Jim K6ZH

K7GT
Great fun. Bands condx very good

K7NT
Man, what a blast! Thank you for the QSOs! Great to hear a lot of familiar calls and also many
current Checks!

This was my first contest from home in over 20 years (not including ARRL DX CW in 2021, which I did
remotely as W7RM using N6TR's station remotely).

My antenna is a limiting factor, but actually performed better than expected, at least on 40 - 15.
The antenna is a Greyline 28' Flagpole fed with a MFJ-998RT remote auto-tuner. The rig is an
IC-7300.

I operated for a couple hours Saturday night on 40 and 80 but wasn't very happy with the results,
especially on 80. The short, non-resonant antenna was obviously providing a pip-squeak signal, but I
still enjoyed the time and looked forward to daylight operation in the hopes that 10 and 15 would
produce better results.

Another factor was the use of N1MM+, which has taken some getting used to for me. All through the
1990s I was a huge fan of TR Log and was very adept at wringing the most out of all of the
flexibility it offered, and the super-optimization it had for CW operations. I have heard N1MM is
also extremely flexible, but so far I am hacking around and have not yet figured out how to make it
really flow well for me. If anyone cares to offer some pointers I am all ears.

In 11 hours of operation I managed to make 317 QSOs (one of which was a dupe I chose to work rather
than fight - I generally just work dupes because it is faster than not, especially when my rate was
never very high).

73,
Mike

K8LF
With all my antennas down from tree work, I went full remote
with Mike AC8Y and his fine station. I figured out how to get
paddles connected up to RS-232 to use for spills. Took some time
off to assist my fellow PVRC chapter members with technicial
problems. Latency was sometimes a problem. Other stations would
not listen long enough between CQs so I could send my call out.
This is my first clean sweep in years and years of trying.
Strange to have the contest start on a even hour and end on a odd
hour from the time change. Worked a bunch of fellow PVRC
members.

Qrp with an indoor wire inside a stucco building, which amounts to a faraday screen, is an exercise.
Not in futility (I got a score!) but in fun. I remember the great SS CW days of the late 80's at
my former QTH, a bit larger than this shoebox I live in now. 73/88 de Mark K9TR

K9ZO
The SteppIR was on sawhorses for the contest. Never worked reliably on 40 since I bought it. I
stared in September to have one final attempt at repair, but there was not enough time and the
weather turned windy. I had the 80 meter 4 square which has been great, and an inverted vee for
40/80. Nothing on 10/15/20. From CWT I knew that the wires were not effective at all on 20, so I
knew it would be difficult to catch the west coast and rare multipliers. The really rare ones came
accidentally and easily, even before I worked California. I heard, but could not work SB and MB.
So close to a clean sweep! My XYL had a birthday which turned into a family party with a
photographer and my 98 year old Dad invited me to a Veterans dinner on Sunday, so I knew from the
start that I could only be part-time. No runs the entire time, but 80 worked well, however, it was
hard to find new guys in the Midwest after a while. 40 meters required a couple calls to get most
guys to hear me. Need some gain! There are always antenna projects around here and I have incentive
to return next year. It got pretty chilly in the shack without an amplifier running.

This was my first sweepstakes try, and I had a great time.I will definitely bee back again !!

KD4D
Barry Shapiro, WR3Z, and I split the W3LPL superstation again to generate points for the
Sweepstakes club competition. We each have a dedicated radio and computer for each band
and we have to share. This means we have to split time on the "best" band. Saturday night,
that was 80 meters. Sunday often only one band was productive running. Our QSO totals
were significantly lower this year. We did both get Sweeps early though - Sunday morning, all
I needed was NNY and I worked a couple early. Barry got his sweep Saturday night before
before going to sleep!

I always look forward to SS CW. This year, I wanted to make 500
Q's and try for a clean sweep, of course. The morning and early
afternoon was spent frantically raking leaves and doing other
honey-dos. My son and his new wife are in town, so there would
be inevitable conflicts to be dealt with. In spite of all that,
the biggest problem at the start was that I had not made any
effort to practice or warm up in the weeks before the contest. I
wisely started with S&P for a while to get my act together. This
year a 500W amp was added to the station in the hope that
running would be more successful. That wasn't enough on the high
bands, and rate wasn't good enough, but during the evening I had
runs on 40 and 80. Interuptions were frequent. My
daughter-in-law was out shopping for a car and wanted advice and
later, to show off the new car. There was a family Zoom about my
brother-in-law's chemo, and more. By about midnight, it looked
like the goals were out of reach. However, I started again on
Sunday, operating between interuptions but without worrying about
score or anything other than fun. It was slow going during the
day, but to my surprise, it really picked up in the evening.
Somewhere along the line, I had picked up all but ONN and LAX!
That's pretty good for unassisted, and it was clear my QSO total
would at least top 400. Dinner guests arrived, and operations
ended without the two sections, but that relative success has me
thnking about next year. I'm going to get some pracitce in ahead
of the contest!

Usually the multipliers outside the mainland are sweated out towards the
the end of the contest, so was amazed how this one started and delighted
that 10 was open where I knocked off KP2,WP4,KH6&KL7 in the first hour
it was the VEs that came near the end and VE4GV called me on 40 for #84
with a little over an hour to go.

KV8Q
Got a SWEEP!!! Never thought that would ever happen again since
I moved into this condo with all indoor antennas. Didn't try to
bust any pileups but found them all along the way. 80 meters was
a big surprise. It was quiet and I was able to run quite a bit
there. My best friend, a 97 year old veteran, was Grand Marshall
of the local Veteran's Day parade and I took three hours off to
see him. Overall, it was a great contest for me. Thanks for the
fun and all the Q's - 73 tom Rig = TenTec Eagle @ 100 Watts.

I decided to go class A this year again, and it was a good thing,
since a windstorm knocked out my internet access Friday night
through the weekend. I couldn't resist messing around on 10m and
15m, but probably should have stuck with 20. Thanks for all the
QSO's!

I was a nice Suprise to see 10 Meters open. Alaska and Hawaii in the log with one call! All contacts
made with 5 watts, an old Radio Shack CB mag. mount whip on our Weber BBQ Grill. Amazing how a
simple set up can work on 10.

sweep until now!

N5DTF
Other than Field Day, this is my first contest. I could not operate
the entire time so I decided to operate QRP and be happy with 25 or
30 contacts. I made quite a few mistakes along the way. However, I
did end up with 35 QSOs from all over North America. There was
a great opening on 10 meters. I believe I pushed my code copy speed up
a bit and improved my operating technique as I noticed I was
completing the QSOs faster as the event progressed. Now I just have to
improve my logging methods. A special thanks to all for listening for
my QRP signal. ALL in all.. Great Fun. 73's

N6HI
Ran QRP, just ONE HALF WATT to a 20 foot
end-fed wire, thrown into a tree out my window.
It was great to see 10 meters open this year!
I probably spent way too much time on 10m
at some points where other bands were better,
because it was so FUN to work 10m this year.
Thanks to all for your patience and the QSOs.
Keep those sunspots coming for CQWWDXCW!

N7CR
My first SS after being licensed 47 years. My pal Gordy WA7LNC managed to talk me into
participating. CW WAS score went from 16 states confirmed to 45 so far! It turned out to be a lot
more fun than I thought it would be. Got a lot of use out of the new 3 el quad and 40m yagi at 20m.
See you next year!

N7EPD
SSweeeep!!!!! Never worked so many EWA stations on 20M before!

N7RCS
Operated QRP off-grid from my SFL QTH backyard tent this year.
Used only mono-band rigs (40m & 20m QCXs & MTR5B) to an 80-10m EFHW at 35 ft.
As always Sweepstakes is a big challenge but very satisfying. Did not work
80m & 10m. I knew condx were good when I started working other QRP ops.

N7XU
Amazing that my last section was LAX. I think about a third of the people answering my CQ did not
have my call in their Exchange and just started out with a serial number. Very nice to have 10 m
open. Managed to find my NL multiplier up there. Worked three different Yukon stations which was
very unusual.

It's a lot easier trying to break pileups from the West Coast using n7xu rather than k4xu.

Thanks for the contacts.

Conditions were great; wish this old duffer were in better shape physically than he was back in 1958
for his first CW SS as KN9LWV(won WI Novice Class with ~ 103 Q's and 38 sections). Hard to sit in
operating chair after back, shoulder, and hip surgeries :). Setup: K3 @5W to verticals and low 135'
OCF doublet. Couldn't buy a LAX station in spite of chasing four of them in the last 4 hours of the
'test. Thanks for the Q's and fun!

N9TF
Had a good time. SSCW was the first ever contest I operated in 2001 as a new
contest club member with SMC. Thanks to Paul, K9PG for roping me into this
crazy mess!! I always get a bit nervous at the beginning of the CW test, but
eventually get in the groove. Bands were in great shape from my perspective,
with only a ground mounted 6BTV and eight, 32' radials. Personal best for this
LP station, before log checking. I hope I didn't bust to many exchanges!
Thanks for a fun contest. 73 Gene N9TF, Clarksville, TN.

ND9M
Missed a few gimme's and actually had to slug out a pile up for LAX near the end of the contest just
to get the mult. What a world!

NI0K
Another one in the books. My strategy was to search for sections... but alas missed two. Most of the
contest was S&P and relaxed operating, but I did have a nice run on 10. Propagation and noise
levels were favorable. I compared my 2 element Yagi at 80' to a 20' high dipole: most of the time
the dipole won, sometimes as much as 25 dB! Sweeps need a high angle. My sketchy CW skills were a
good match - most ops running around 24 WPM which are pretty good. The long exchange made for a
tough slog and I had trouble remembering the 'work once' per contest rule. I had FUN and that's what
counts.

Wish I had more time to operate during the contest but the big take away for me was a step closer to
my QRPP WAS certificate by catching an AK station and having a confirmed QSO at 1 watt. Not easy
from Vermont! Steve/W1SFR

W2AAB
This year was a casual operation due to limited time. Although I
didn't make a Clean Sweep, I managed to work the NT multiplier (VY1CO)
for the first time. Many familiar calls worked, and it wouldn't be the
CW SS without W2VJN and Bud, W4YE. Go FRC!

With 40 meter 2-el yagi AND wire beam down, along with anything for
10/15, my expectations were very low. Temporarily put up 1015

to see 10 and 15 opening again!

W6Q
This was a 1st WQ6X Sweepstakes triple-OP operation, running W6Q as SOALP,
interspersed with running W6QX as SOA-QRP and a few hours in the remote
multi-OP chair for NX6T. During all 3 operations, 10-meters was certainly
THE band to make it all happen, while 160/80 were ho-hummers and even 20-meters was a
disappointment.

Posting to the online scoreboard was enabled for BOTH W6Q and WQ6X
to make things even more interesting.

Good propagation to everywhere. Glad to work old know and new calls. Had fun, even with the low QSO
count. Hopefully see you next year. 73, Rick

The Case Amateur Radio Club of Case Western Reserve University operated for several hours. Similar
to most university clubs, there aren't many CW operators among the members but there is a surprising
amount of interest. The one experienced radiotelegrapher coached three members who had learned at
least some Morse through making some contacts. All told it was fun and our log included two other
"Precedence S" (school) stations. With any luck, we'll have new antennas for next year, as ours are
getting quite long of tooth.

Great fun operating Sweeps again this year. I ran 5 watts into trap dipoles up 35ft. 10 and 15
meters were quite lively for a change thanks to Ol'Sol. Sweepstakes brings out the best ops for
sure. Many were good enough to wait out my mistakes and get the exchange. Some of the QSOs were very
fun. Like just running up on Hawaii and getting them before the pileup. Only managed 70 sections, but
grabbed all the "far away" stations with ease this year. Where was S.C. ?? several sections that i
normally get were absent. Still the best contest of them all. 73 Gregg W8GG

W8RU
Family activities limited my participation, but had fun
while I was on. Nice to see lots of activity on 15m.
Worked a few close-in stations via backscatter.
Thanks for the QSOs and 73, Ron (W8RU).

W9RE
Good short skip on 20 so most Q's ever on that band. 40 seemed down this year.
Thanks to the ARRL and logging adjudicators.

W9YS
Bands were great. Never made so many 10M contacts.

WA2BOT
A magical weekend. Operating low power with a BigIR for 10-40 and a G5RV @ 40 ft for 80 from CT, I
earned a Clean Sweep. For someone whose core focus is anything but CW contests, this was a fun
experience.

WA6KHK
Sweep with only a HF9V vertical!

WA6KYR
Over the years my station would not get answers from my CQ.
This time I was completely swamped with signals calling me. I was so swamped I could not separate
anyone sometimes. This was the situation on 20, 15 and 10 meters in the extra class part of the
bands. I guess I need to figure out what to do if this happens again.

Operated remote from Tokyo, Japan

I love participating in the CW ARRL November SS as a straight-key-only operator. I enjoy the REAL
challenge of the long exchange, and I am proud that, while doing my best to keep up with all the
hard-bitten contesters out there, my trusty old J-38 and I get very few requests for fills. This is
the first year I have submitted an entry. Since I usually am mostly hunting and pouncing for only
between 100 and 200 contacts, I don't consider myself any kind of competitor, but I finally decided
after all these years that a small score still demonstrates support for the contest and all it has
to offer. The big take-away is that you always end each CW November SS contest as a more proficient
operator than you are before you start. It was also particularly fun keeping up a running text
conversation with a friend clear across the country who shared progress reports as he maneuvered his
way to completing a clean sweep!

I was going to do Single OP HP (B) but decided to go Unlimited
(SOUHP). I made a Clean Sweep!
as many years.

Thanks!

Rig: Elecraft K4
Antennas: Dipoles
Didn't spend as much time in the chair as I originally thought I would, but had fun anyway. Missed
the sweep by one section - NL. I didn't hear a single station from there - Bummer.

WQ6X
This was the 1st WQ6X Sweepstakes triple-OP operation, running W6QX as SOA-QRP,
interspersed with running W6Q as SOALP and a few hours in the remote
multi-OP chair for NX6T. During all 3 operations, 10-meters was certainly
THE band to make it all happen, while 160/80 were ho-hummers and even 20-meters was a
disappointment.

If the WQ6X signal seemed much lighter than you are used to, it's because
I was running As an assisted QRP station, accomplished by dialing back the
Yaesu FT-2000 to its 5-watt minimum.

Posting to the online scoreboard was enabled for BOTH WQ6X and W6Q
to make things even more interesting.
You can all about this triple-OP operation at: http://WQ6X.Blogspot.com.
