This is my first effort in a return to RTTY, absent since the mid 1970s. The biggest challenge is
integrating RTTY and logging programs. Had to manually correct the log for band entry, and it
reduced the score to zero for several contacts. MMTTY simply will not work (decode but no transmit)
on an FTdx101d. But its an old DOS program. N1MM prefers it as the engine for RTTY. Was also unable
to get MMVARI to work either.

I found fldigi easy to install (even had a drop down choice for FTdx101d) and got it running
quickly, in AFSK mode, with the transciever in DATA-L mode. Howver, N1MM kept wanting to invoke
MMVARI and RTTY mode, even though I had that set to NONE for transceiver, and it kept switching the
mode from RTTY to PSK (bcause the Yaesu rig is true FSK only in RTTY).

N1MM should be able to run in stand alone manual entry mode without all this hassle. BTW, I do not
have any trouble with N1MM on SSB or CW, sends stored messages and logs seamlessly. Great program,
and freeware! N1MM should take a look at disabling all the extra features, so at least people could
get a simple setup going.

Therefore I apologize for the necessary edits to the log, so others could get credit for the QSO.

Wow, I miss my Commodore 64, Homebrew hardware interface, Maurauder, and Drake 2C setup. Life was so
simple back then.

Great that FT8 was not a part of this years competition. Score
and Qso count far exceeded last year. Due do multiple brain
errors a checked out RTTY system failed to perform and took some
4 hours at the bbegiing to resolve. Commitments towards the end
of the contest further limited our time to 19:25 hours. Our
average was 59.7 Q's for every hour we operated.

Limited time to operate due to family stuff, and also very bad WX
on Saturday evening with severe gales, storms and heavy rain.
Started on Sunday morning, and 40m was good, with several W7's
in the log. Mostly S&P, but had some fun calling CQ too.
A large number of stations called me with my call twice, and their
call got lost in QRM/QSB.
It seemed that there wasn't as much activity as in previous
years, but there was some nice DX around.

K3CCR
K3CCR is the club station at the Collington continuing-care
retirement community at FM 18OW in MD, just east of DC. In ARRL
RTTY N3UM and W5MPB did Multi-1 HP. We hoped to do Multi-2; our
old K3 with Signalink did RTTY FB recently. But at ~17Z it would
receive and key, but no Tx power. Attempted remedies failed; we
fell back to Multi-1 and started 2.2 hrs. late. On 20 M 20-23Z,
N3UM ran for 32 Qs, then W5MPB ran for 67 Qs, and N3UM ran for
11 more. At 23Z we had 110 NA Qs and 35 St/Pv mults, 59% of our
final total. On 40 M 2304-0019Z N3UM ran for 62 of 67 NA and EU
Qs and 11 first DX mults on 40 M and quit to return early. W5MPB
clicked spots for 88 Qs and 18 DX mults 0138 to 0506Z QRT. Back
at 13Z N3UM ran for 28 of 33 20-M Qs by 1342Z, mostly EUs. He
ran on 15 M for 11 of 34 Qs by 1442Z, then got 20 10-M EU Qs by
1523Z. On 20 M 1549-1745Z W5MPB got 46 EU and NA Qs. From 18Z to
24Z QRT we got just 5 mults; we hopped among 4 bands to get Qs.
N3UM ran on 20 M 1801-1917 for 63 Qs, 50/hr. W5MPB then got 33
Qs on 15 M. N3UM got 29 Qs in 80 min. on 15, 20, and 40 M, then
W5MPB got 21 Qs on 40 and 80 M in the last hour. We missed DE,
VT, WY, and 5 of the 14 VE Pvs. Of our 59 DX mults 39 were in
EU, 66%. We got only 11 Qs and 7 mults in SA; 1 LU and 3 PYs.

K5VG
This was my first foray into RTTY territory after 51 years as a ham. I managed to put it off that
long--yes, I did. I am putting it off no more. The warbling sounds better than FT8 warbling. I may
even look for a Model 28 on Ebay to augment my K4.

I really enjoy the ARRL RTTY RU however, I am not a big fan of the two-break
rule. Call it an element of challenge if you want, but with our aging ham
population it does little to encourage operators from getting up, moving around
and obtaining sufficient rest throughout the weekend. As an organization committed to 'Safety First'
the ARRL may want to consider retiring this rule.

N6JSO
Lots of fun! These were my first RTTY QSOs ever! Due to the storms on the California coast, I
couldn't use an outdoor antenna and just used a magloop setup indoors and operated QRP. I started
the contest to support NCCC with hopes of getting at least 1 QSO and I got 50, including Alaska,
Hawaii, Japan, and Mexico. I think I'm addicted to RTTY now. Plus listening to the tones makes me
nostalgic for old-style modems, which is basically what RTTY is, minus the originate and answer
carriers.

I did not see many stations on my computer screen

Only PT this year, but lots of fun in the chair. Even put together
a few busy short runs with this little pistol station. Not a lot of
DX found it's way into my log, but 39 DXC did, mostly western EU, AF
and some SA/Caribbean. Finally having at least one resonant antenna,
(6BTV ground mounted) planted, made a big difference from last years
RTTYRU. Heard more, and worked more in less time!

NA4DA
Great fun. Husband/Wife Multi-Two. The bands were crowded, and operators were professional. Loved
it!

ND2T
We upgraded our plans to Multi-Two from last year's Multi-Single.

15m and 10m were in much better shape than last year. A great start
on those bands put us 50% ahead of last year's rate.

The station is fabulous! From a mountain top above San Jose, CA
we can hear very weak stations, can work Europe on 10m,
and get through pileups quickly when S&P.

The Pineapple Express atmospheric river weather was a challenge.
Rain static interrupted some good times on 40m and 80m. Power
failures, technology problems, and staffing shortages meant we were
single-op for 3 or 4 hours and missed 4.5 hours completely.

I knew before the contest that there should be great conditions on high bands, so I started on 20m.
Its hard to say if that was a good move or not, but first two hours had nice rates.
Unfortunatelly, then the rate came down. I guess its because lots of US stations enjoying allready
working high bands and not calling me on 40m :(.
But I knew I will be compensated next day afternoon on 20 and 15. And It was!
The best 60 minute rate was 147/hour from 15:07 to 16:06 - that was great and I really enjoyed it,
both radios of 2BSIQ operation was full of strong callers :).
And The fun fact is, looking to my 2022 stats, I see that the best rate was in the same minutes from
15:07 to 16:06! - what a coincidence :).
The contest was fun with the 2BSIQ and nice opnenings. Thanks for organizing the test!
Also Thanks to OK1MU for general help on QTH and OK2ZAW for technical support - thanks to many
products from his QRO.CZ company I was able to run the test with nice reliable setup.
Mny tnx for all the QSOs, see you on the bands next time, may be WPX RRTY in few weeks!?

As noted here before, many FT8 operators did not listen (or watch) if a frequency is free and just
started sending their signals on top of our RTTY signals. This behavior made mixed mode RTTY and FT8
sometimes no fun at all. It's called 'RTTY Round Up' so maybe it's better to give FT8 users there
own 'FT8 Round Up' on some other date!

I was using 250 mW (same power as a single LED on the Christmas tree) into 3EL on 10M, verticals on
15M, 20M and 80M, dipole on 40M.
Nice contest, lots of fun, I love it. Tried calling CQ too and got a few answers, but mainly had to
do S&P.
10M did not meet my expectations, however 15 and 40 was great for DX and NA as
well.
After a long lunch break Sunday I went back to 20M to have more fun.
It is amazing what 250mW can do when your wires are at half decent height.
Feels like FSK has more punch than CW. Who needs FT8 for weak signal work...

Found plenty of RTTY activity on all bands. Sometimes it was downright crowded! Did not work a
single EU station however. JA was the only entity worked in Asia and no Oceania except for KH6.
Good openings to SA on 10 m in the late afternoon both days. The station performed well running
high power and kept the shack nice and warm. Very glad this is a winter contest.

W1MVY
This was a really fun contest. This is the first time that I have operated RTTY and I found the
mode surprisingly robust during band changes. Next time I'll be more prepared to do larger numbers
of contacts, but for a first try it was cool!

Thanks for the contacts. Thanks to the ARRL for sponsoring the

W2NTN
This was a combination local / remote operation of the W2NTN
IC746PRO at 100 watts using the 80 - 10 meter multiband dipole.
Craig (W2NTN) operated locally, and Gary (N2OT) operated
remotely. This was a learning experience and a lot of fun!

Was really interesting to compare the spots with the acutal

Part time operation just to have a little fun with my friend at ZF5T.

Pretty compromised operation, amp does not work on 15m, antenna arcs if used on 80.....

Therefore a great time on 20 and 40 this contest was!

Why does propagation always take a dive on RTTY contest weekends? I had very few contacts from
Europe on all bands. 15 meters to Asia was great on Sunday evening! Unfortunately, during the day 15
was poor. 20 was even worse!

The contest has always been my favorite. I'm glad that there is still a lot of RTTY activity.

W8RU
Good conditions and lots of fun! Thanks for the QSOs. 73, Ron (W8RU).

WA2CHV
Never ran in a RTTY contest before, but Bob, W2RLK, talked me
into participating in this one. Spent half of this contest trying
to remember how RTTY works on a KX3. I didn't spend the time to
figure out how to get the amp working with RTTY so ran barefoot
at 15 watts for the entire contest. N1MM+ wouldn't play nice
with my RTTY progrgam so I resorted to manual logging and later
transcription to N1MM+. 23 DX contacts is testimony to what one
can do with just 15 watts, a good antenna, and good propagation.

Thanks for another fun contest.
The bands seemed quite good this weekend.
I wish that I had more time to play radio. Too many interruptions with family and friends both
days.
And, what's with all those people way off frequency. I had to use the RIT a bunch to get them into
the decoder passband. Fairly close is being lazy.
See you in the next contest...

WB9TFF
First time as multi-op M2, low power, 2 transmitters. WB9TFF Donna and
WB9TFH Gil. We used Ugly bandpass filters that I made.
Antennas were yagi at 51 feet, 135 ft. inverted V doublet at 50 feet
and ground mounted 5 band vertical. Radios were Yaesu FT-1000 100w
on the yagi and doublet and Yaesu Ft-991 100w on the vertical,
both using N1MM logging. We had a good score combined, we never
reached this goal before individually contesting.
It was a good fun part time contest.
Our club is Society of Midwest Contesters, SMC.
May operate other contest as multi M2.
Thanks for all the Q's and DX.

WQ6X
This was another last-minute WQ6X dual-OP RTTY contest from
the EB ARRL section. The weekend was spent bouncing back
and forth as W6R (low power) and WQ6X (a QRP setup).
This weekend was the 1st-time an MFJ-993B IntelliTuner was used at
the Concord QTH. The amazing thing was being able to tune the 3-el
Long John 10-meter Yagi on 15-meters (acting as a rotatable dipole
I assume). It even flat-tuned on 20-meters, altho the main antennas
for 20-m and below was a pair of 8JK-phased Cobra dipoles and a Comet
CH-250 vertical.
While the Space-WX seemed good, I was expecting more stations on the
air and stronger signal levels. Then again, running the yagi on 15-meters
made for an extremely low-noise RX-ant - even better than a Beverage.
LooK for a write-up on this GiG soon at http://WQ6X.Blogspot.com.

Operated portable from a campervan at RE78BI. Propagation out east to the Americas not very good
despite high solar flux. My two break times were 02 - 04
